• Make up to 100,000 baht a Month Profit in Thailand with a Minimal Investment

    I recently met a farang (foreigner) living in Thailand that was making up to 100,000 baht a month in profit with a business that initially cost him about 15,000 baht to start. His wife runs it and they only work evenings. The food they make is a hit with the Thais and no one else in their province is doing it.A few months ago, I met a foreigner living in Thailand that set up a small business for his wife to run. The initial layout was around 15,000 baht and since then they have been making up to and often time over 100,000 baht a month in profits. The nice thing is that this business is easy to do, cheap to start and it is nearly pure profit. Since they started the business 4 years ago, the Thais are lined up every night in hordes to buy the tasty snack his wife cooks. The farang is doing nothing but smiling and counting the baht they are making!!
    So what is this awesome business that no one else is doing in Thailand?

    Frying up all American, state fair style Elephant Ears! Yes, that's all it is and the Thais absolutely6 love them. He is selling them for 20 baht each and it only costs him around 4 baht to make each one. His wife sells about 200 to 250 a day bringing in 95,000 to 120,000 Baht a month.

    What is needed to get started?

    All that is needed to get started is a bottle of cooking gas, a burner, a place to set up and the ingredients. Later on, you may want to invest in a push cart or a mobile motorcycle cooking station.

    Here are a couple Elephant Ear recipes for you to use to teach your wife how to cook up the ears!

    1 1/2 cups milk

    1 teaspoon salt

    2 tablespoons white sugar

    3/8 cup shortening

    2 tablespoons active dry yeast
    4 cups all-purpose flour
    1 quart oil for frying
    3 tablespoons ground cinnamon
    6 tablespoons white sugar

    Cooking Instructions

    In small saucepan over medium heat, combine milk, salt, 2 tablespoons sugar and shortening. Heat until shortening melts and sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and let cool to lukewarm, 110 degrees F (43 degrees C). Sprinkle in yeast and let sit until foamy.
    Transfer mixture to large bowl, and stir in flour to make a dough. Knead until smooth, cover and let rise 30 minutes.
    In a large heavy skillet or deep fryer, heat 1 inch of oil to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
    Roll out 1 to 2 inch balls of dough into thin sheets. Fry sheets 1 to 2 minutes on a side, until puffed and golden. Drain on paper towels.
    Combine cinnamon and 6 tablespoons sugar. Sprinkle over warm pastries. Serve.

    Or try this recipe:

    1 1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. salt
    2 packets dry yeast
    2 tbsp. sugar
    6 tbsp. shortening
    4 c. flour
    Oil for frying
    Powdered sugar, sifted
    Cinnamon/sugar mix

    Heat but do not boil milk, sugar, salt and shortening until shortening is melted. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and stir until dissolved. Stir in flour 2 cups at a time, beating until smooth after reach addition.Put into greased bowl. Cover with damp cloth, let rise until double. Dust hands with flour. Pinch off pieces of dough size of golf ball. Stretch into 6-8 inch circle. Drop into hot oil in pan large enough to fry 6-8 pieces. Fry until pieces rise, turn with tongs and fry until light brown. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with desired topping.

    See which ones the Thais like in your area and have your wife get cooking, while you count the cash that rolls in!

    Keep in mind, that when you tell some other expats of your plans for this business, the negativity army will start to march. The naysayers will cry foul. But remember, the expat that I met is doing it and is making a killing at it. He has not set up a company, nor does he have a work permit. He lets his wife cook the ears and be the face of the business. he financed it, takes her to Makro to buy her ingredients and does the accounting. So let all the expats tell you that this cant be done and go out and do it anyhow!
