It is only 108 kilometers from Bangkok and is known for its contributions to Thai art and mythology. There are a number of historical attractions in Ang Thong, including around 200 temples. Visitors can see handicrafts produced in several local villages that are
unique to Ang Thong Province.Visitors can see Thai villagers engaged in handicraft production utilizing skills that have been passed down from from century old Thai generations.

The provincial seal is golden ears of rice in a bowl of water. This seal symbolizes the fertility of Ang Thong Province as one of the major producers of rice. The provincial tree is the Gaub Tree (Diospyros malabarica). During the reign of King Taksin after the fall of Ayutthaya, the main city of the province was moved to the Chao Phraya River, and named Ang Thong, as the Noi River had become silted and too shallow for transportation. Ang Thong is the provenance of Li Ke, the native folk song, and the hometown of Nai Dok and Nai Thongkaeo, two heroes of the Bang Rachan Battle.
