  • Any Plans For Christmas?

  • #2
Back in the UK I would be going into bunker mode. Getting a little food and drink in to tide me over the closures and crowds. A big stack of books from the library then hunker down and ignore it all until the 2nd January when its all over for another year.

Here in up country Thailand its life as normal and no need to work at it to ignore it.

True, the little local Tescos is playing jingle fookin bells on a loop and the cashiers have been ordered to wear silly hats but there is a dead zone in the middle of the store near the ladies underwear where you can't hear the muzak and can sift aimlessly through the knickers looking for some hot panties that the wife will not want to wear.

I am normally a bah humbug type over the festive season.
As I will be spending the whole of Christmas and New Years as a guest of friends, I'm quite looking forward to it for a change.

Determined to have a go at this highly acclaimed work, which has been sitting on the shelf for a while.

Got a bike run planned through Khao Yai Park. One side to the other in one day if I can do it!
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

Christmas dinner at the local yaht club. It was built in the early 1920s, is right on the water and very historic. I am looking forward to it as it is me members only and I have never been inside.

2018 I have chosen to take a break from work (might even quit) and travel for a couple months around The Philippines. The Xmas break I'll spend doing some research and prep work as I've not been there before

                Food really sucks there.

True, but some places are much better than others. I spent most of my time in Ermita and mostly ate in the hotel which was lousy. Eventually we found a huge place very close that had very acceptable food. I'm sure there are more if you know your way around

Both airports are maxed out to the max these days.

Glad I am not flying (literally speaking that is)

Christmas is the one Western holiday I have celebrated in some way. Back in 1992 we went to Cambodia to avoid it, but we pulled the drapes when we checked into the hotel room and there was a Go-Go bar across the street with dancers outside dressed as elves. Gave up on ignoring it after that.
