The Anti-Human Trafficking Division police cracked down on a company which allegedly scammed more than four million baht from 84 victims to lure them to work on an airport construction project in Oman.
After 30 victims filed a complaint with the Labor Ministry about a foreign employment scam, Anti-Human Trafficking Division police arrested Witoon Sanguantham and Wimon Chularattapan.
The victims said Witoon and his BR Thai Team Company visited Chiang Rai and Nong Khai provinces in 2008 and claimed that they would send Thai laborers to do construction work at the Oman international airport.
They then sought 50,000 to 60,000 baht per person as travel expense.
A total of 84 people fell prey while more than four million baht in cash exchanged hands.
Police have charged the suspects with illegally hiring people to work abroad and fraud. Two other suspects are still on the run.
