Well, they say there's nothing new under the sun unless it has to do with getting
one's visa to live in LOS extended.
After scores of years here, learned a new one yesterday when I prepared to visit my local Immigration office. This story has more to do with he prep work than the actual mechanics of sitting through the process (brief) at the Immigration office.
If you use Bangkok Bank as I do for the 800K THB and you visit another branch to obtain the Letter based on your passbook issued from a different branch, it doesn't work. The branch I initially used yesterday was unable to issue to Letter even after telephoning the Main Bangkok Bank in Silom. They were "locked out" as it were so...moi had to go to the originator branch of Bangkok Bank to get the Letter issued. A 60km round trip.
I suppose I could have cancelled the passbook at the first branch and opened another passbook but then Immigration would look askance at the <3 month 'seasoning' date and that would have been a hassle.
Everything else went tickiteeboo at the Immigration Office. No surprises there other than I should have gone mid-week as the place was mobbed by dozens of Burmese.
