While I don't doubt the usefulness of per capita death statistics, I think they only tell part of the story. Another parameter that is equally useful is distance driven.

As a hypothetical example: A small country like Singapore might have the same population as Mongolia, and one could easily surmise that Mongolians were "worse" drivers. Yet Mongolians drive 20x as much annually as Singaporeans. Using the parameter of deaths per million kilometers driven might be a useful statistic in determining "countries with the worst drivers in the world." Further, an F-test used to compare the two means in an ANOVA would combine the best of both parameters.

Depending on how one defines this superlative...

Drivers that are disconnected, unaware, short attention spans, self-centered, or just don't retain any logic regarding driving character.

These might apply most everywhere, as there is no such beast as better/worst drivers.

I disagree. Statistically we can compare driving parameters; it's not difficult at all. The problem lies in gathering accurate, and identical, data. Beyond that, it's a piece of piss. The problem lies in definitions and truthfulness.

44 in 100k is pretty low, considering... well done!
Where else does one enjoy the same freedom - no license, drunk, no crash helmet, etc. - been 12 years on the road, (almost) no accident!
I am proud of my own and the Thais' driving skills.
