Since the break up of the old USSR do you think that Pattaya has been overtaken by the Ruskis.

On my last few trips to Patts they seem to be everywhere, and have had several rent places of mine, and more buy properties nearby.

Since the break up of the old USSR ...

Do you realize that was in 1991? The influx of Russians into Pattaya didn't start for another two decades.

The Russian influx didn't really start to spike until after the oil prices spiked again in 2008.

Very noticable influx to Thai resorts in the last 2-3 years. You just know they are here to stay when they start setting up SME to satisfy tourism.
A mix of genuinely aspirational middle class and dodgy types wanting to expand criminal eneterprises, and/or launder the proceeds of criminal activity back home.
They will feel at home here with the endemic corruption.

Recently bumped into a couple of strapping Russian blokes who looked like they were auditioning for heavies in a mob movie. Turns out they are Trans Siberian train drivers on holiday with wives and kids. Excellent English too.
