  • 2015 : Overall tax collection for the first 5 months fall short by 1.5 percent

Overall tax collection for the first 5 months fall short by 1.5 percent
    March 23, 2015

Government revenues for the first five months of the 2015 fiscal year amounted to 816 billion baht representing a shortfall of 12.2 billion baht or 1.5 percent.

Mr Krisda Chinavijarana, director of Fiscal Economics Office, said today that collection of corporate income tax, value-added tax and excise tax for automobiles have fallen short of targets by 16.9 billion baht, 14.7 billion baht and 8.8 billion baht respectively.

Revenue and customs tax collection has also fallen short by 35.5 billion baht and 1.6 billion baht respectively representing a drop of 5.7 percent and 3.3 percent.

On the contrary, collection of oil tax, tobacco tax and person income tax have exceeded targets by 12.8 billion baht, four billion baht and two billion baht respectively.

Mr Krisda said that the revenues drop was partly due to global oil price cutbacks. But the oil price cuts helped spur consumption, he added.
