What are these for ?

Ive seen this many times on Thai trucks , what looks like rubber strips hanging down on all the tiers , any one know what the strips are for or intended to do ?

I thought it helped keep the tires cleaner of shave some of the mud or small stones off, could be wrong.

I seem to remember trucker in the UK doing something similar to their side mirror to help keep them clean.

Keeps the outside of the tries nice and shinny. Where the idea came from is anyone's guess.

They are scientifically designed and fitted to slap any motorsai riders that get too close and also to accurately flick any small stones either into said riders faces on into oncoming vehicles windscreens.

JJ got it in post #2. It's to keep stones and other road debris off the outside of the trucks tires and cracking the windshields of other motorists.

Either that or it's a rubber amulet of sorts that prevents the tires from wearing out or puncturing.

Sort of except there are no "truckers" in the UK. Or France or Germany or...

In France they would be chauffeur de camion.

If the driver feels the slap against the side of his tuk tuk, he's knows he's too close.
