    It's a buyer's market. Anyone with the money to attend will likely get admitted.

    Thai universities are a mighty large charade to support.

    Thai universities do little or no meaningful research. Their main function is to separate the chickenhead from the chook, which can be accomplished just as simply with a large monetary payment. Writing papers, taking tests, planning and carrying out projects, creative thinking etc, are less important than uniform compliance and grovelling to the faculty. It's just a show.

    The country is not a meritocracy. What a student knows is of far less importance to who his family connections are with. A smart, ambitious Thai teen without the proper family connections and financial resources will be the most highly educated janitor in Bangkok.

    Thailand should dismantle its ghastly universities and simply set up money transfers for its (mostly useless and non-accredited) degrees -- Khao San Road style. Thainess personified.
