Has she been accused of criminal acts? If not, then why does she require specula permission to travel?

Prajin not certain whether Yingluck can leave kingdom
            July 18, 2014

Deputy junta chief ACM Prajin Juntong said Friday that he is now not certain whether former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra can leave the kingdom after the anti-graft agency decided to charge her in court.

He said the National Council for Peace and Order still retained its approval for Yingluck to leave the kingdom but the final decision will depend on the court's decision now that she is facing a criminal charge related to the rice-pledging scheme.

              NACC surprises Yingluck's lawyer
              18/07/2014

The National Anti-Corruption Commission rushed its decision to recommend indictment against former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra over the loss-ridden rice-pledging scheme because she was leaving for a European vacation, her lawyer said Friday.

The NACC's decision to ask the attorney-general to indict Ms Yingluck Thursday was unexpected and Ms Yingluck's legal team will be seeking relief from the attorney-general, Phichit Chuenban said.

The lawyer said that his team would seek fair treatment from the attorney-general, as the NACC had argued against Ms Yingluck's proposed witnesses, used a special investigative process that wrapped up in just 21 days and left Ms Yingluck no opportunity to defend herself over new questions about the release of government rice.

Mr Phichit said there was no need for haste simply because of Ms Yingluck's plan to tour Europe from next week to early next month. He said the holiday with her family had long been planned and the former premier was not using the trip to flee charges against her.

The NACC should not rush submitting its investigative report to block Ms Yingluck's trip, Mr Phichit said, because legally it still had 14 more days to do so.

There is much interest on what kind of ticket Ms Yingluck was travelling on. Here is what the Bangkok Post had to say in this morning's newspaper edition:

Checks with airline staff found Ms Yingluck had not purchased any return ticket. She was travelling on a one-way ticket to Europe.

                    Military monitors Yingluck
                    Wassana Nanuam
                    26/07/2014

The military junta is closely monitoring the movements of deposed prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who has reunited with her brother Thaksin in Europe, an army source has said.

According to the source, the junta has instructed Pol Col Wathanyu Witthayapalothai, who is accompanying Ms Yingluck on the trip, to compile information about the former prime minister throughout her travels.

The main purpose of the trip is to attend a birthday party for Thaksin today at a hotel in Paris. Ms Yingluck reportedly also plans to visit the United Kingdom, Germany, Belgium and the US.

The source said Ms Yingluck has been asked by the junta to refrain from meeting politicians or political groups during the trip. "The NCPO has asked her to stay away from political engagements. Any gatherings should be for family members only," the source said.

Thaksin earlier asked Pheu Thai Party figures not to join his 65th birthday celebrations.

According to a party source, Thaksin wants to keep the function a private affair for family members and close associates because he does not want to rile the junta.

However, it is believed some politicians close to the fugitive ex-premier may show up at the party.

Ms Yingluck is scheduled to return to Thailand on Aug 10.
