A Farang purge might be much more beneficial and practical.

Just saying like, for those missing the bigger picture.

I spent some time down in Ban Phe some years ago. Was a nice quiet spot. We stayed in a pretty basic Thai guest house on the beach road and had a nice lazy few days there. It had some bars along the beach where you could get a drink and a meal. There was a fair on at the time and at the end of it there we could not get any transport back to the guest house, so the fire crew who were there with a display, gave us a lift back to the guest house on their fire engine. It was a real treat for the kids.

I neglected to take pictures which show how beautiful the beaches are and only took a few showing the kids enjoying them. A little boy, no more than ten, had his own business hiring out inner tubes and was clearly doing well as he had his own motorbike. The riptide warning is valid but was no problem to me as I was fully aware of it and kept an eye on them.

The beaches to the east of Rayong down towards Klang (however it's spelled) are rather nice but huge caution is needed going into the water. Rip tides of biblical proportions are known along that stretch.

agree with that, spent many happy hours having a beer and some food on the beaches east of Rayong earlier with my friends and later with my family, avoiding the filth on the water and the beach of Pattaya.

    Some Sand

You are so lucky to be an Australian. We, in Wales, have to put up with scruffy little beaches like this one. Having said that it is probably the best in Europe and I have fished there many times.

Small warning however , as an Ozzie you'll need to be on your beat game to convince me

The beaches near Rayong are world class.
Good grief , they are cess pits and definitely not with in shouting distance of a decent beach ,let alone world class .

The reality, however, is that, if one ignores the prostitutes and bars, Pattaya is a brilliant place for families. I cannot think of any outdoor activity that is not catered for. I lived in Pattaya and loved it but only visited bars to show them to friends when they visited Thailand on holiday. I had the advantage of having a car, and most tourists do not, so I was able to explore the region fully. The beaches near Rayong are world class.

I appreciate that there are huge numbers of sex tourists who flock to Pattaya and can honestly say that I think that this will never change. It is perfectly possible to live a decent life in Pattaya and I know because I actually did it. I only returned to the UK because of my mother's failing health and could easily have stayed there if she had not been ill.

The rest of the world's family resorts have obviously a lot of catching up to do
