  • Mexico City

A mate is shagging an Asian bird there (apparently the city is home to about 100,000 Filipinos who emigrated when Spain ruled both) and has spent October to March there for the past two years. Brits can stay for six months with no visa, which beats everywhere bar Hong Kong and New Zealand in the Asia Pacific.

I'm thinking of stopping over there in Oct, and reading about it, the climate is fabulous. Daytime highs of 22C to 27C and nighttime lows of 7.5C to 13.5C year round, with 2555 hours of sunshine, which is basically permanent English summer weather. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mexico_City#Climate . It's cooler than Asia's tropical highland cities as its elevation is 2250 metres as opposed to around 1500 metres for Baguio, Dalat etc.

With 700,000 American inhabitants it's also by far the most popular city for yanks outside of the US.

Er....after reading about the level of violence there, I think I'd rather go somewhere like Brazil or Colombia.....even though they are a bit violent too.

Lots to see there in Mexico City.Aztec Temples to the Zona Rosa.
The air is real bad though since it sits in a huge valley.

Better places in the country to check out like Puerto Escondido and Bahias de Huatulco.

Further south in the State of Chiapas is San Cristobel de las Casas.- it's up in the mountains and definitely worth seeing.
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

          Safe to travel?

Me & the missus have traveled throughout Mexico a dozen times or more and not had a spot of trouble anywhere other than crooked cops from time to time/

Once, when we were crossing the state border at Oaxaca to Guerrero - driving an old VW Bus we were held up for some "Backhanders". Since the missus was traveling on her Thai passport and both of us had many pages and mucho visa stamps in both of our passports.

A few pesos later on we went but never had a dodgy moment even in Mexico City.

Word of caution though when driving in Mexico - always watch the cops closely at border stops. They have been known to plant contraband in your vehicle. Shocking, I know!

Rule #1 for Mexico; don't drive at night.
After that it's pretty much all good.
Lately I've heard it's a good idea to avoid cartel controlled border regions.
Go check out Tasco, groovy silver mining area. The hotel Monte Tasco used to be a Holiday Inn, fabulous spot, super food!

Mexico's no worse than Brazil or Colombia, who also have some serious issues going on.
The thing about latin america is the intrinsic 'macho' thing going on.

Funny thing is you don't see it so much in Spain...

For south america adventures I'd choose Chile or Peru.

Actually, Earl, there's no problem driving at night. Done it all the time but in country-side areas, slow down as the cattle come out to the highways to lay down and warm up.

Mexico is well worth a visit, apparently.
