    I first came as a long weekend visa run in the noughties and didn't think much of it, but that's because I stayed around the busy tourist areas. Get out into the suburbs and it can be a joy.

    Heading here tomorrow. Vlog of typical locals. A much nicer accent than Thais speaking English IMO.

      Something good I've noticed is the middle classes here starting to use public transport. Quite a few comfortable looking people waiting at the front of their nice housing estate for the MRT bus.

      Presumably people with cars will still use them, but perhaps those with aging cars are deciding not to renew them as there's no need to.

          There's a lot of Toyotas, Hondas, BMWs, and surprisingly quite a few VWs Peugeots and Citroens around the place.

          The occasional Jag Bentley and Aston Martin too.

            Labuan and its capital Victoria looks well worth a visit when tourism returns to these lands.
