It's essential for rainforests.
If the city gets hot, head up into the mountains.

I presume you're referring to the source of yet another vapid comment.
Another great thing about Malaysia is that clocks are an hour ahead of Thailand. So it gets light after 7am and dark after 7pm which might seem trivial but it feels more comfortable.
It no doubt harks back to British Malaya and Brits not liking waking up before 7am, and enjoying daylight hours after work.
Just had a TD browse and saw Thaiophiles painting KL as a joyless place. They'll never see in a Bangkok mall what we watched in The Curve (a Mediterranean styled KL mall) last night, a great band doing stuff from Elvis to brand new and dozens of local shoppers (Chinese, Malay, Indian, Eurasian) stopping to dance and learn steps in harmony, including pensioners and kids.

Well on first impressions I have a new favourite city. Malacca. Feels like a hybrid of Singapore and Hoi An.

Why the comparatives, generally speaking.
Comparisons have little to do with anything and usually used by those with little knowledge - as they have nothing else.
Absolute paradigm.

I've witnessed no crime here in five months and if it was my priority I'd stick with sterile Singapore. Here is definitely grittier than there though, which can be a good or bad thing.
It still beats Bangkok for safety though https://www.bangkokpost.com/life/soc...ity-tokyo-tops

Fair points about KL, a fun city with lots to see and keep you amused. The only negative I can remember from working and living there over a number of years was the crime situation. Burglaries and muggings were common often in broad daylight. Walking around half pissed at night was not a good idea. Of course the Malays blamed everything on Indonesians, kind of like Thailand in that regard.
