I visited way back in 2010. It is very nice, especially the beaches. Check out Hikkaduwa beach.. The place is quite a touristy place these days and many touring companies about.. or you can do it on your own. If really interested I can recommend a friend who does tours. I met him accidently when I was there, although I haven't done any tours. Galle is very nice at the very south. You can walk along the fortress wall which at one time the Tsunami hit.
