  • Covid and scuba diving in Thailand

Planning 2 dives in Thailand while some Covid restrictions are still in place this year.

Nothing is scheduled. However, the one resort that was contacted was eager to continue the correspondence.

They need the business and we’re going to try to do what we can to support the beleaguered Thai Tourism industry which accounts for about 20% of its GDP and employs a little more.

This will not/may not be a travel thread,….but will be more of a “how to” and precautions taken thread.

The dives might be two separate threads. The reason…….two different locations.

Questioning the first hotel about the requirements needed in the form of Covid vaccine proof. They requested a copy of our US CDC card with evidence of both injections.

That will save us from any 14 day or 7 + 7 day quarantine requirements because we are traveling within Thailand.

Precaution: We have our own diving gear so we not have to be concerned about Covid from community/rental gear.

A 3rd trip was added that is not a drive trip. New Year holiday that I will not post about or start a thread on.

Was able to use all of our left-over Airbnb Covid cancellation credit (4,000.00+) for one of these trips

Booked our first dive destination. The enticements the hotel was offering were wonderful.

Finalized all of our transportation needs to the first destination. Proof of Covid vaccination recommended on some legs.

Some flight restrictions. If you have your vaccination certificate, it shouldn’t be a problem (Krabi and Phuket only exceptions)

The booking was made for the accommodations for the 2nd dive, along the coastline.

                      Nice place

                          Good news and bad news.

                          Bad news first.
                          1. Didn’t bring the camera with the telescopic lens with me to Thailand this trip, because I thought we would only be diving.
                          2. There might not be an empty room in Phuket by this afternoon. We already have ours booked.

                          Good news.

Might be something to see at a distance.

More good news, for our 2nd dive.

Mu Koh Similan National Park, in the southern province of Phang-nga, has reopened to tourists under its “new normal” measures, with no more than 3,850 visitors allowed per day.

The head of the national park, Tassanate Petchkong, said that they are fully prepared to welcome tourists again. The Similan Islands will be open for seven months, from October 15th to May 15th.: https://www.thaipbsworld.com/thailan...mbers-allowed/
