  • Penang - the perfect destination for lower middle income Thais

This group seem to fantasise about visiting Singapore or Korea when they'd probably find Penang a lot more enjoyable, closer, and more affordable. It's barely outside of Thailand yet definitely feels like a different country.

Aside from the inconvenience of few hotel shuttle buses, Penang is very nice.
The airport is a bit of a mess though.
Quite enjoyed my stays there in the past.
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

I have been to Penang LOADS of times, back when it was the main place to go for visa runs. I enjoyed it. Other than that, I have not seen much of Malaysia other than a train trip from Singapore to Penang my first time in SEA.

not quite, my wife used to buy it at the basement floor at the market, it was on a special floor separate from the main wet market. one could also buy pre-packed bacon at the super market but you had to put it in the carry bag by yourself.

Alas no more direct sleepers, they end in Hat Yai the bumi and bomma and bummas sleaze

Of course can fly at a price and try and find a metered taxi.

Georgetown is gentrified even less Pssst on Chulia street at night , however still a favourite jaunt for some top Dim Sum in Ta Taong 26 Lebuh Cintra and Both Tandoori rotis and Tamil nasi bana leaf curries

Flights there are pretty cheap, and once arrived Grab taxis are dirt cheap. There's also an express airport bus to Georgetown costing the equivalent of around 25 baht - the 401E.

true but getting grab out at green lane heights or Air Hitam is another matter after dark

Often soend more on cabs than the night out, its still peanuts just the endless wrangling with shysters the Council tried to clean up bu the taxi mafia and illegal unlicensed hence uninsured old bangers ( no not Pssst ladies ) ancient cars make Thailand seem civilized
