I have previously lived in KL and is indeed a fine place to live, cheap and quite well organised, but sadly i couldn't get over my dislike of Islam and the mosque wailing out the call to prayer got the better of me, mind you i dislike all religion but Buddhism i can put up with, i can resist the inclination to kick a monk up the ass, and tell the lazy tosser to get a proper job.

With a population of more than 7 million I'll give KL a pass, far too overpopulated. Retirees want a quiet smaller populated city with good health services, mild climate preferably close to friends & family
Pattaya anyone? Join the beer bellied male sexpats in their over-priced condos
I'm currently holidaying in a city Tauranga NZ that has a high retiree population due to its nice climate, provincial city lifestyle and proximity to main centres such as Auckland. However it has the 3rd highest house prices in NZ, after Queenstown and Auckland. The young and the retired that want to move here have driven up prices. Okay for retirees who have the money, tough for a young family

It's a tough choice between kl and Georgetown. The latter has the sea and beaches, fewer muslims, and more charm, the former has more infrastructure, things to do, and better transport links.
The new MRT is awesome, including the views. Anyone who rides it will never want to go on the overcrowded ugly view bkk skytrain ever again.

^ Yes 16-21o/C in your Australian town in winter, but here in Victoria it gets up to mid 30's in summer, maybe even 40 on occasion. Then there's the flies on these hot days, the bloody flies that hang around your face looking for moisture, not 1 but half a dozen at any time landing on your face, in your ears. The things they don't tell you on the tourist advertisements . Just flash Lara Bingle and her perfect tits on the tele & all the guys want to go there
