  • What?

What do you talk about Thailand to people that have never been to Thailand before?

What is the first thing come to your your mind when you think about....

    Bangkok?
    Pattaya?
    Phuket?
    Chiang Mai?
    Isaan?

What do you like about Thailand the most?

What do you like about Thailand the least?

Bangkok - The fresh air, zero corruption, Grasshopper hanging himself in cupboard at the Swissotel Nai Lert hotel in some weird sex act
Pattaya - Daw the skank. Nin the sexy dwarf, Bee the 1 legged Ladyboy, Svetlana the femme fatal
Phuket - Sex change capital, the 2-bit movie The Beach the reason why I hate Leonardo DiCappucino
Chiang Mai - Place where crazy farangs go to die
Issan - Rice, eating a Pie in Pai

What do you like about Thailand the most? As a base for bombing those Commie Vietnamese Mofos. Nin the Sexy Dwarf
What do you like about Thailand the least? The 1 Satang coin could be a little bigger

          Your expectations must be subpar.

I probably would not live there, but I enjoy a trip upcountry now and again. I like the people and the slow pace much better than Bangkok and Pattaya.

A few days kicking back in a village in Korat near Kong where the pace of life is slow and the people are friendly is great for a few days. I love the slow pace to recharge.
Love to spend a few days around Jomtiem going to restaurants, sitting on the beach chilling out.
Pattaya, just to see the hustle and bustle. A lot more to the place than "fallen angels" if you look. Down to the pig and whistle for breakfast.
Bangkok, the ease of getting around on public transport. The hustle and bustle, markets, the street food. A myriad of bars to choose from while catching up with friends who live there. Love the river life. Making sure the A/C business is going ok. Catching up with Lady Cows family.
Chiang mai meeting friends and traveling around the back roads of mountains and seeing great little places off the beaten track.
Chiang Rai just because I like it and many fond memories.

You can get that in Chachoensao. No need to travel to the outer reaches of the country.

Possibly you are right but i live here, having suffered the filthy air of Bangkok, and experienced previously the filthy skanks of pattaya, i find most things about up country Thailand, the air and the lack of traffic, the refreshing honesty of the locals, suits me.

                      Same here Plonker.

Recently found a 980 rai quiet resort midway between Phitsanulok & Poo Tupberg on Hwy 12 that seconds as an elephant reserve with more than a dozen semi-tame beasts rescued from various city streets. Very peaceful!

I don't find Isaan boring at all.
I got bored after a year of living there.

                        Flat motorbiking.
Drought for most of the year.
Locals are a bit nice-but-dim. Those that get educated leave.

Nice to visit, go riding around once in a while, after that you'd probably have to be old to not find it boring (I was in my 20's living there, 30's now).
