  • Does any one read books any more.

My step daughter is for ever complaining of having to read books . She seems to love any thing to do with reading online but a physical paper book no

Just thinking about it Ive not picked up and read an actual physical book for a very long time may be years , yes the odd copy of the Bangkok Post newspaper , but holding a book and actually reading it No.

Any one here that actually does read books and if so how often and what type ?

I've always been a constant reader. Switched from paperback/hardback to my current e-reader years ago and never looked back. Now, I finish 1-2 books a month, mostly police procedurals, some sci-fi and the occasional biography. I'm currently reading Andromeda Strain 2: an excellent extension based on the old Michael Crichton notion of an evolving virus strain.

God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

Au contraire mon ami. This here series of books can be classified as future history in the making.

Any good books I download free to PDF or EPUB, I print to A5, staple in the corner and read in physical form while I'm out and about.
I'm not one of those milennial types who think they are above reading analog books, I regularly slum it and read them

Those dead-tree books will be a lot easier to read once your cave gets electricity.

Good idea. Then you can burn dead trees to make electricity to read an E Book.

Must admit I do prefer to read an actual book. I do read regularly but usually when i go to bed. Old habits die hard.
When I was a young boy I had no interest in reading books. I went to the school library and saw the cat in the hat and that sparked my interest in reading.

Re reading one now for the third time.
Shelby Footes historical trilogy of the American civil war. Wouldn't be the same without the paper feel.

I have a library of about 50 non fiction historical books that I never get bored of. Who can read a book and remember everything in it. Put it aside for a year or two then re read. You absorb more with each reading.

Throw in new books and you will never be bored.

                          Picked up this excellent read:

"The outrageous, but often glorious, story of Britain's pre-World War I Army. This is an upstairs-downstairs view of the Victorian-Edwardian army, one of the world's most peculiar fighting forces. The battles it fought are household words, but the idiosyncracies and eccentricities of its soldiers and the often appalling conditions under which they lived have gone largely unrecorded. Byron Farwell explores here the lives of officers and men, their foibles, gallantry, and diversions, their discipline and their rewards."

                          Rather good it is...
