Before the internet age they were writing letters about buffalo and kids in hospital, think this was from the 80's used to have a copy. One story was of a girl at the airport asking her 'boyfriend' if he will kitten her as he was leaving he kept say no and she got really upset, he thought she was asking for a cat!

''The girlfriend experience''
Clever Thais.
Almost always have you folks blinded/fooled.....which, in most cases, wouldn't take much.
I remember a Spanish guy who came in a lot....always on the verge of tears, wanted something written urgently...Last edited by Arthur Daley; 03-09-2020, 01:35 PM.

"A'rrr, those were the good old days. Could get me some horny young poontang 500 bht for the week. She'd even do your washing, keep your room clean, give good massage, cut your hair and thank you for it. Not like now, old scrubbers want 2000 bht short time."
ZZZ, falls off bar stool.....Last edited by sabang; 03-09-2020, 08:37 AM.

Pattaya was a lot more fun until it became mainstream in the internet age

How 'bout a different approach.
The good old days from a Thai perspective, less Farang.

Well lets face it, a Pattayite cares as much about non residents saying they don't like the place as a Sydneysider constantly hearing from dour Melbournites they don't like Sydney! Like, who cares- just debunking some of the usual myths & stereotypes suffices.
But one of these is actually the good old days. I'm sure Pattaya was a rip roaring old RnR town in it's days, which means it could be fun for a while- certainly a welcome break from blowing up gooks. Patts is not even unique in this regard really- there are several such places. Tijuana springs to mind, or Angeles & Subic & Saigon for GI RnR, or Ibiza & Cyprus for filthy young Brits after a shag, Prague for stag weekends (for shame, because Prague is a nice historic city), etc. And sure, you can still come there, spend ya money and monger to your hearts content- many do, but the expats are frankly a bit old and jaded to be bothered about that, especially when they've got a jealous wife back home!
But that was a long time ago, and most of the expats living in Pattaya now would not have chosen to call it home back then. You're more likely to see them on a golf course than in a chrome pole palace. Or up on the hill sipping wine with their affluent gay mates. Those stuck in a time warp can always move to Snooky or even Angeles for their new nirvana- actually many did- and now they are changing too. Those priced out, well bad luck- but that certainly isn't unique to Patts. Those dreaming of a rural idyll- Patts wouldn't even be on your list, unless you consider a golf course rural. As for real Tai culture, p'ffft- you sure don't come to Pattaya for that, although exactly where you might truly find that now- methinks maybe Yunnan province. It is what it is, that's all- brash, unapologetic, anything goes, and basically anything available at a decent price, including nearby airports. Oriental Algarve/ Benidorm, maybe. Plenty of reirees there too, amongst the tourists
So, if you don't like it and really care about that, ask the tourists why they keep coming. It's really of no interest to the residencia.Last edited by sabang; 03-08-2020, 05:14 PM.

There are other features and memoirs that fit nicely into the tales of THE GOOD OLD DAYS.
