  • Post your refunds/credits due to COVID-19

Each year Disney World will host marathons/runs. They have become popular and are difficult to enter these races. They are sold out within hours of opening registrations.

My daughter and whatshername are both runners and entered one of the races together.

    https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en...ter-fireworks/ - https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/en...e-castle-show/

The races were canceled this year due to COVID-19 : https://www.rundisney.com/events/dis...l-run-weekend/

Fvck! Some planning went into this and I was wondering how Disney would handle the refunds. Credit for another stay at a different time or just refund the entire amount?

The day of cancellation my daughter received notice and let us know. I called Disney and they were so helpful it was almost sickening. Full refund. The young woman who I spoke with told me the refund would show up on my credit card within two cycles. Two months? But then she told me shhhh, it should show up within a week. It did.

The tropical island resort where I booked a family bungalow for a week only refunded 50%, i.e. $2900, the other half stays in my account with them for the next booking.

Lady and princess Cows' trip to Australia was cancelled due to the Australian govt closing the borders. She has been told the value of the air fare will remain as a credit towards a future flight. Her unused health Insurance policy taken out by me in Oz gave me the option of a 60% refund or shifting the policy dates to two months in advance, which I can change again should the flight be delayed past that date. Just a note on insurance. Covermore offer one policy only for overseas stayers in Australia for medical insurance which is unlimited and is much cheaper with better coverage than any thai policy lady Cow could find in Thailand, bearing in mind her friend is an insurance agent.

I've heard of some folks getting the government bailout checks allready. I've also heard that once many small businesses reopen they assume it will be hard to get their staff back as folks are making more on unemployment than they did while on the clock.

As for me I will not get a dime but that's ok. There are many more deserving than the fish. I did get a call at 0530 this morning, yea my day off, asking if I could make it in. No trouble I say as I get emergency call in pay plus time and a half.

I'm expecting the same thing to happen tomorrow (Sunday) for double time plus emergency call in pay. Beats the hell out of unemployment for sure.

Hey I just thought, I'm getting paid to post this. Cryall as well as others would be getting jealous if they knew about this. Haha.

The new policy for social distancing on flights seems to consist of leaving 30% or more of the seats vacant. Expect the price of air tickets to see a major jump.

              • Braver than me. Would have made for some good pictures.

Short story. Warning about some travel operators (like tripadvisor).

We knew one that worked for a huge Australian travel company here in Thailand that would book some flights and rooms for us. She went out on her own and we followed her. Girlfriend knew her for years when she would set up travel arrangements for her boss. The girl was still working for the large international travel company at that time.

We decided to book a nice trip with her years ago (taking a chance on a longer holiday). Prices were great. She gave us the booking information well before the trip was to start. Few nights before we were to leave whatshername checked the flight with the booking information. Airlines said we see the booking but the money was never received. Checked with the resort. Same thing. Whatshername called and called the broker. Never answered back.

Filed suit. Got someone to find her. First day in court the judge was wonderful. The broker never showed. Judge put out a warrant. Next court date the broker showed up. Judge was wonderful again. Awarded us a win. Money was to be paid or the broker would see Thai jail time. The broker is still transferring money to whatshername each month.

Careful with brokers. Some deals they are offering to you are hard to pass up, but their cancellation policies might be a bit different than what you might receive from going directly to the provider.
              • Our New York play/concert tickets were/will be refunded. Telecharge and Ticket Master were great.

Airbnb. The last refund from our NY trip.

Airbnb offered us 1,800.00 and change for an immediate cash refund but we decided to hold out for the full refund to be applied to another stay before December 30th 2021.

The amount shown was for three tickets. We were a little late selecting our seats and were giving the only option of paying for all three seats together or choose another seating area. So we purchases all three.

                        Little extra that was unexpected.

Because of the stay at home policy people are driving less. Fewer accidents.

Our auto insurance company decided to give back because of the fact. It’s only a 41.00 return but our insurance policy doesn’t cost much. Both of us are safe drivers (no accidents), older and the 15 year old SUV insured doesn’t have a high replacement value.

                          • United called me

I was scheduled to leave this month back to Thailand. They told me my flight/s were cancelled. I told them I knew Thailand is not accepting international flights at this time. She went on to tell me that I could either change the date to go back or get a refund. I asked her how long could I wait to reschedule and she told me about two years.

While I had her on the phone I requested information about whatshernames flight (she was leaving with me/on the same flights). I told United she was getting repatriated soon and didn’t need the ticket any longer. United told me they would refund the money to the credit card.

Interesting part of a short discussion with United. I told her that the airline industry had been hit hard during the pandemic and she agreed and added that United and been hit very hard and some would not be coming out well on the other end. Sounds to me like a lot of people will be losing their jobs at United.
