    Adds up, doesn't it?

No wonder this hypothetical job applicant was so incensed to A) have the reimbursement claim refused, and B) not get the job at all. (in fact, and I am just spitballing here, but imagine if you did get the job, but then the offer was rescinded due to some minor technicality, like failing references or a CBC or something like that, how angry would a little man be?)

That sounds scarcely believable though, how could you not have your references in order. Amatuer stuff.

Unless of course, hypothetically speaking, you were some type of confabulist narcissist with a poor work record yet given to overstating your abilities.

          Weird one innit.

It sure would take an odd mind to make it up. The kind of person who has spent decades obsession over the lives and jobs of others, comparing them to a fantasy existence.

There are places where lawyers should be banned from practicing. The family court for one.

If they still have to practise then they can't be qualified for the job at hand.

I visited TC a few times as a guest but had to stop. It is a sickening place. - Aging One

Indeed. Luckily there are highly effective appeal processes when lawyers have rigged things in the lower courts. This is where cases start to get interesting, and overturning a case at this stage ensures a much larger payout, based an aggravating circumstances.

Speaking of appeals, interesting tidbit, but you can't appeal a decision from an Employment Tribunal--not even by judicial review--other than to have them review their own decision for an error on a point of law and even then there wouldn't be any consequential or punitive damages other than maybe costs.

It's designed to stop time-wasting and frivolous actions I suppose. There are apparently some quite deluded people out there.

Deluded enough to bring a hearing of reverse discrimination when it was their own work record and (lack) of decent references that cost them the job?

Great way to demonstrate that your claim to have a law degree is.
