What % of Thai newly qualified drivers could pass a UK driving test?

That's like saying what Thai drivers are pussy footing white knucklers.
Not very many. They know how to drive efficiently. The flow of traffic is good. It's not possible to drive without paying attention. So there's less double tasking going on behind the wheel.
I love the way you are allowed to drive in Thailand. It's part of the culture shock. Growing up in a dull North American suburb then landing in BKK and seeing ppl being able to use their own judgement instead of driving in Orwells 1984 like they do in N.America
It makes me wonder why ppl like you have any connection to Thailand if you don't like most of it

A complete lack of self awareness and consideration.
If all the 10 year olds of N America suddenly started driving their parents cars, you'd pretty much replicate the situation on Thailand's roads
You are just a pussy footing white knucker who is used to the dull slow roads in the west, that never force you to pay attention. So when you take this pussy footing to Thailand , you get run over.

Apples & oranges.
They drive in Thailand, not the UK.

If you feel safer in a backward land where a car driver pulling out in front of a motorbike is perfectly normal because they've superficially bought their way to higher social status, but the motorbike rider sounding their horn at the car driver is seen as insulting and taboo, then good on you

That rarely happens.
Good luck riding in the UK... oh, you don't? Neither would I.Originally posted by Ergenburgensmurgen;n186588

Try beeping your bike horn at various moronic Thai car/pickup drivers and see the percentage that have a face-loss dummy spit meltdown then either try to ram you or pull their onboard weapon of choice on you.
I have to wonder who is the more idiotic, the Thai driver twat who flashes his lights at people to tell them to get out of super-important his [you know, all that car loan money goes to the head] way, or the foolish farang who has deluded himself that Thai roads are fairly safe and misses them sooooo much because he's stuck in Europe.
