After all the negotiations and all the talking and accusations about lack of progress on both sides, it appears to have got down to a few sticking points some of which include the Irish border, workers conditions and fishing rights.
The E.U. has been fairly consistent in its stance that the U.K. cannot expect the same rights and privileges outside of the E.U. that it enjoyed while in. However, the E.U. expects members rights and privileges on fishing should remain the same. Quite an unrealistic expectation that wreaks of double standards and hypocrisy. There appears to be disagreement between the fishing states who want no compromises on fishing rights and even Barnier and Merkel who recognise it is unrealistic. Macron is head of the intransigence brigade that may end with no fishing deal rather than one where Britains rights to set limits are recognised in a compromise deal.
