I’ll start with the beaches in the UK. Like the country, dark and dank most of the year.

Such a narrow minded, conditioned, retarded opinion.

Dark? Yet Bournemouth gets more sunshine hours than Phuket for half of the year
Dank? Yet Bournemouth has less rainy days than Phuket for eight months of the year and only 40% of Phuket's annual rainfall total

Might attend some of the Olympics.

Looking for a nice beach or three to visit while in Japan.

This one looks nice,……. on Okinawa Island. Might have some nice dive sites also.

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

Visited Jamaica twice when I was young. The first time was memorable. Doing some things I shouldn’t have been doing. Lucky I wasn’t caught.

Second time with a girlfriend. Got some great pictures.

Ocho Rios isn’t anything like I remember now. It has grown so much. Good for them and bad for young tourists like I used to be. I am sure they still have some beautiful beaches.

Maybe I can get the girlfriend to visit with me but to do a dive.

During my first visit, one morning a friend and I woke and walked out to the beach to check the waves. Two girls our age were in the water. About chest-high.

In the waves we saw a nice size shark and started yelling at the girls from shore to get out of the water. They didn’t pay any attention after repeated warnings. With the waves breaking along the shore they might not of been able to hear us but they could see us waving at them (and pointing at the direction of the shark) and I think they thought we might have been trying to flirt with them.

We entered the water and kept yelling at them to get out and as we got closer to them. Finally they did turn around at the right time and saw the shark in the face of the wave.

They flew right by us to shore.

^When I was old enough to travel by bus I went to South Beach, when for the most part it was a Nursing Home Community. They would not visit the beach but would watch from the porch. However, there were old fishermen on the pier. They were great and would watch out for us (hooks and sharks) as we would jump from that pier.

You see these photos of many Mediterranean beaches, and what a big so what. They are overcrowded, often thin as ribbons, and in some places even pebble beaches. How glam.
Admittedly I am from Australia, but I would not even cross the road for these places- never mind the world.

But you do have a beautiful reef just off the coast we were able to visit.

Thin beaches are something you have to adjust to. Growing up in Florida I never saw many.

Punta Mita, Mexico

There are more than a handful of nice beaches there.

I was on one at the St. Regis.

Waters too cold. But it's not as bad as lake swimming in canada. People try and convince themselves that its not actually that cold. But it is. And anyone outside canada would never consider getting in

When tourists think about visiting a country with nice beaches the UK wouldn’t be on the list. Who would like to visit a beach to see pasty fat people in swimsuits? Other pasty fat people?
