  • Been ages....

It has been ages since I went to the other channel. I used to go there several times a day and posted constantly. I went there today and go this message -

"Hello XXXXXXXX it appears that you have not posted on our forums in
several weeks, why not take a few moments to ask a question, help
provide a solution or just engage in a conversation with another member
in any one of our forums?"

We all had some good times there and missing that kind of Thailand forum fun.

The place is in a state of flux, I'd say - the mods are trying to get rid of the shitkickers not ****-kickers like me, rather those who are constantly full of aggro . . . but not succeeding.

This place is slowly, very slowly, gaining members so it's not indicative of how it will progress - we'll see when controversies start

Headed in a TV destination? Will it ever be a TV competitor?

Certainly headed in the same direction, though the DH is a major difference, I believe. TV isn't that bad, taking into account their membership numbers and contributions - particularly serious questions about taxes, laws etc...

I don't like their moderating style, or should I say I don't like their mod heavy-handedness - but then TD is heading in the same direction except that no-one knows who the mods are . . . kind of like here?

TD isn't 'serious' enough to become a TV

A great idea until someone decides they want to sue the forum and will sift thorough every post/picture/comment to get as much personal information on the management team as they can.

Anonymous mods are the way to go, for their own protection. People can presume to know who the mods are, but once they're made to stand out, they become targets, by both posters and ****wits that may want to do something crazy like suing a forum, the admin and the mod team.

              Just saying like....

Taking all the fun out of a forum, Top...

Don't be so fcuking serious and literal.

Not every situation will be reflective from your experiences.

It's all fun and games until somebody gets an eye poked out.....

Perhaps you should reflect on why most forums either hide the names of their mods or moderate ruthlessly...........but with your experience I'm sure you'll know the reasons why, because, you know, you've reflected on it.

Yeah...TD will never become too TV-like.
Just not the over all nature of teakdoor, even amidst all the odd change of winds here and there. Still retains it's unusual character.

The dramatic, and obvious, change that has seemingly crippled TD is that great departure of long-time members - many whom have vanished, or banned/jailed, or don't contribute as they once did. Been taken over by a host of oddballs and extreme-types.

I have been asked about moderating more than one forum in the past. When I moderated Ajarn forum I woke up one morning to find a barrage of posts on numerous forums accusing me of kiddiefiddling, running porno websites, having a criminal record, etc. etc. all posted by a freak with over 100 hardcore ladyboy porno websites. Christ if people want to moderate a forum, which is an unpaid chore, they are welcome to it. I sure as Hell won't do it again.

                            That's the overt stuff.....

                            Then there's people like Jeff....

They start off seeming nice, then just start posting rubbish that's generally ignored and then when they feel they've been ignored too much start posting inappropriate material or accusing others of illegal activities so the management will notice them.

Then, after a bit, Jeff comes back and the entire cycle repeats itself again, ad nauseam. I'll admit I'm much happier now than I was a year ago.
