  • Dishing Some Out

Over the years back in good old blighty Ive known several people who were just plain bad , their character and mission in life seemed to be one of conning ,abusing and using people to their advantage when ever possible , generally treating people with no respect.

Since arriving in Thailand I'm still amazed at the daily reports of foreigners who just seem to get away with conning , cheating and lying their way through life , especially towards the easy targets of newcomers to Thailand , be it property scams , get rich quick schemes or visa related services . The victims fall prey and normally end up far worse off .

Now the thing that sticks in my side , the thing that gets me shaking my head , is that I never seem to read or hear of any of these people getting their just comeuppance , they seem to carry on with impunity and exempt from the consequences of their actions .

Thankfully ive personally never had to deal with this type of situation , but I'm convinced that if I had to , a good dose of comeuppance would eventually be metered out .

Any thoughts on comeuppance , have you thought about dishing some out

I'm not normally a violent man , but some times its time to stand up and be counted , to do the deed , or as my grandfather shouted at me , as he was led down to the remand cell's, don't trust any one .

I think that often, given time, they give themselves their own comeuppance, and simply burn out.

It would be nice if that were true but I'm not so sure it is. Scum bags will always be scum bags and I think far fewer of them get what they deserve than those that do. The law can only do so much and it's often next to nothing.

The thing you always have to remember is that more often it will still be you that shits out if you take the law in to your own hands. It will be you who ends up in prison or at least with a criminal record, and the consequences that will ultimately have on your life and your family, while the scum bag carries on as normal.

Even when fighting back when being attacked you need to be careful. You hit someone who then falls back and hits his head on a kerb, and the next minute you're in court for manslaughter and potentially looking at 5 years in prison. It's happened many times before.

A good thing to remember is that you're never far from a CCTV camera these days. The average thug won't even think about that. Hold you hands up, back off, make it look to anybody watching that you aren't remotely interested, then knock him the **** out.

Lewis , It still amazes me especially here in Pattaya that some of the long term con merchants , who have a long record of cheating and tricking vast numbers of people , have not had a dose of retribution one night , down a dark soi .

Don't tell anyone and especially don't hire anyone- especially in Tland where it's easy to just up the price paid and turn them around.

No, I think he is the victim. He was having a heated conversation with a man, making a racket yes but in no way attacking anyone, and then was attacked by another man who came out of left field, not doubt to just have a bit of sport, and then kicked in the head by a third man when he was down.

Note the man he was initially conversing with was not angry and tried to help him up.

He made 3 mistakes.1 never start an aggressive argument with anyone on their home turf.2 Never ask people in general, to bring it on when you can not see the whole room.3 Never underestimate them little Thais. They fight to win. Non of this bullshit cockney bring it on crap. The guy he was arguing with was calm because his 'protectors' where in the bar, he knew this guy did not pose a threat.I would imagine this tuff guy will have to reassess his negotiating technique one he regains his (limited) senses. The old guy did nothing to help. The guy who hit him with the bottle aimed for the jaw. Knew what he was doing. Nice how they dragged him out of the bar, obviously for his own safety.http://thailandchatter.com/images/smilies/mid.gif
