  • How time flys

Well just looked at my desktop calendar , WTF + WTF its now telling me that its been 23 years since I packed my bags and left England for good , I just feel a numbness in my mind, where has all those years gone . Three years after leaving I did pop back to see an old friend who sadly passed away while I was there, so ive not been back to England for 20 years.

I wonder what the biggest shock would be , should I go back tomorrow .

Ive often wondered if in reality getting to a certain age and later point in life , there is apart from the obvious grey hair , sagging and wrinkled skin , a genetic alarm clock that releases a highly toxic substance into the blood stream called , Gitamean . Once the Gitamean reaches the aging brain cells it instructs neurons to become angry and constantly agitated , which gives the donor body an appearance and attitude of being an old git .

The only known short term antidote to Gitamean is to consume large amounts of Chang Beer .

Is it me or is there a slight pattern forming as to how you deal with the annoying shit life throws at you?

Replace the word 'Chang' with something slightly more palatable and by Jove I think you may have cracked it.

Hey Quilp, what's with that massive gap you leave under your posts every time? It's starting to wind me up and I don't have any Chang to hand.

Lewis , after getting up at around 11 am , just in time to relax for the rest of the day , life in the Quilp household is calm and peaceful , but as the day progresses and I start to interact with the world , I can feel the Gitamean start to circulate through my worn out veins and slowly take effect . The sodding neighbors dog , who I know for a fact does not like me , starts to repeatedly bark like a stuck vinyl record , the numerous food venders creeping along our soi in their battered pickup's , twin speakers blearing out incessant high pitched music , an endless stream of young Thai's hell bent on racing their modified Honda Waves at breakneck speeds past the house , the continuous parade of dubious looking brush sellers repeatedly pressing the house door bell , the ever present ring ring ring , of the house phone and yet another golden boy investment broker who wants to make me rich , I go into the shower and the sodding water stops flowing , I start up my trusty Mac computer and another power cut puts an end to that , the mother in law turns up looking for a loan so she can join an insurance scam she's been told will make her a millionaire . Time to get away from the daily madness , but notice the car has a flat tyre , change the flat , but now can't find the car key's , back to plan B , I need my Chang .

            Ps

I do love Red Wine too

When I went back after a few years, 10. Was looking for people who looked like me, early 20's. (Still look like I am 25) Some old guy with a baldy head stopped me, apparently he had me mistaken for his best friend at school, lol.

High school reunions are similar. It's shocking to find out who's died and how, and which very promising young men are now fruit-shop owners.

In 20 years some things are different, computers have become a very large part of daily life.
Most Pubs have closed down. Supermarkets are everywhere. Cars are even made and drive better than the old cars of 20 years ago.
Girls you fancied look like their mothers, and now have kids.
