Aussie motorcycle racer Casey Stoner suffers multiple injuries in horror crash

It has been reported that Casey Stoner suffered a broken right shoulder blade and a broken left tibia in the crash.

Former MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has suffered multiple injuries in a horror crash at the Suzuka 8 Hours in Japan.

Riding for Musashi Honda, the Australian was heading around a high-speed corner when he missed the apex and headed off the road.

However, the 29-year-old was carrying too much speed and his bike slid out from underneath him, sending him hurtling along the outside of the track as his out of control entry flipped dangerously back into oncoming traffic.

A safety car was immediately deployed by officials.

Left on his hands and knees, Stoner tried to crawl to the safety of the barriers before track marshals were able to reach him.

It has been reported the former Ducati and Honda rider suffered a broken right shoulder blade and a broken left tibia in the crash.

He'll be 30 in two months. The old reflexes ain't what they used to be. The clip mentioned a stuck throttle. Stoner was a good champion, but I'd imagine his best days are behind him. He tried V-8 supercars for awhile. Go back to retirement Casey -- check out the Thailand forums.

I agree (other than the thai forums bit). But some people just can't stop, they are driven. I think his injuries predicate this now though. I'm glad he's OK (well, sort of).

He only retired from competition, all along the way he has been test rider for Hondas Moto GP bikes.

              Blimey, nasty stuff.

Oddly enough I made the decision to get rid of my motorbike this week. Just in process of tidying it up.

Broken shoulder and leg, minor injuries for soldiers like Stoner, he'll be back in a few weeks.
