  • Visa amnesty extended until September

    How good is that ?
I arrived in Thailand on a 30 day visa exempt stamp in January................and I havent left the country yet .
I should qualify for permanent residency soon

Uncharacteristically generous of the government. Perhaps they're hoping that all the visaless will have got bored by mid September and left.

Also air ticket prices are probably a bit extortionate at the moment.
I visited TC a few times as a guest but had to stop. It is a sickening place. - Aging One

I wouldn't call it generous. Kicking out hundreds of thousands of foreigners who are spending millions of baht every day, when they're letting nobody in to replace them, doesn't make sense.

Plus other countries would probably reciprocate by kicking out Thais, and they're petrified of more infected Thais returning.

Looks like Fluke wasted his money on a dodgy ED visa.

They just extended the visa amnesty for one more month , after that everyone will need to have a valid visa

                Nope.

Anyone can apply for indefinite 60 day extensions, presumably until the end of the worldwide pandemic https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/visa...ect-november-1

                    Nope.

The amnesty froze everyone's visa, including tourists like you. They can now extend it for 60 days each time. But you're a language student now, now a tourist.

No , you are wrong, I have been following the situation and listening to visa experts , only people who have a current valid visa are able to extend by 60 days .
Those who arrived on tourist visas back in January are now on the amnesty and when the current visa amnesty finishes , 31 st October , they will be on overstay , unless they got the usual 30 day extension recently and thus they have a current visa .
The tourist visas were not froze , they were automatically extended and the extension will cease on 31/10 and they are not eligible for another extension

But people who didn't do that are getting extension until 30 November and 30 December. Why?
