Get a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage

There is no issue getting a year long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai at the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao. You apply one morning between 9-11 and you get the passport back the next working day in the afternoon after 1

DO NOT GO there on a Monday OR a Wednesday as that's the days that the agencies from Pattaya and Bangkok take their customers and there will be a couple HUNDRED people there on those days

There were reports (from one day in particular) that they were asking people who applied for a year/multi Non-O based on marriage where your wife was and if she was NOT with them they were sold only a 90 day single entry 😮 BUT we never heard another peep about that happening again..

You don't need an agent to help you "push paper" at the thai consulate in Savannakhet, it's the "softest touch" of any consulate probably in the world for that year/multi Non-O based on marriage.

Go to the website, read the requirements (they list only a single entry 90 day available) but they issue the year multi IF you write on the top right of the application ONE YEAR MULTIPLE ENTRY and give them 5000baht

Non-Immigrant Visa "O" is issued to applicants who wish to enter Thailand for the purpose of visiting family member of a Thai nationality, a spouse of Thai national. The validity of visa is 3 months. The permitted length of stay is up to 90 days from the date of arrival in Thailand.

Required documents

1. Visa application form [Download] which is completely filled out and signed by the applicant
2. Original and a copy of passport or travel document (must not expire within 180 days and contain at least two complete empty visa pages)
3. Two (2) photos of the applicant (3.5 x 4.5 cm, taken within 6 months)
4. Original and a copy of marriage certificate (for spouse/parent) or birth certificate (for child).
5. A copy of Thai identification card (for spouse/parent)
6. A copy of passport (for spouse/parent)
7. A copy of Thai House registration
8. Visa Fee: 2,000 Baht (Single Entry)

Notes:

• Consular officers reserve the rights to request additional documents as deemed necessary.
• Visa Fee must be paid in Thai Baht only, Visa Fees are not refundable in any cases.
• Legal migration procedures: In case a false or forged document is submitted in the framework of a visa application the visa will be refused and may be prosecuted.
• The applicant must sign on each page of copies of documents.

• ทะเบียนสมรส หรือ สำเนาสูติบัตรของผู้เยาว์ (กรณีผู้เยาว์) พร้อมสำเนา
• ทะเบียนบ้านของคู่สมรส (กรณีคู่สมรส) หรือ ผู้เยาว์ (กรณีผู้เยาว์)
• สำเนาบัตรประชาชนของคู่สมรส
• สำเนาหนังสือเดินทางของคู่สมรส
• ค่าธรรมเนียม 2,000 บาท (Single Entry)

If you will not meet the monthly income requirements for this extension is to go to the thai consulate in Savannakhet Lao and buy this year-long, multi-entry Non-O visa based on marriage to a thai for 5000baht.

That visa does not require proof of funds to get, is good for a year from the date it's issued, is good for unlimited entries during the validity and each entry gets you stamped in for 90 days.

When that 90 days runs out, you go to the border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country and then stamp right back into thailand to get a NEW 90 day stamp.

You do this the whole year the visa is good for and you can stay for 15 months on it (in 90 day increments)

That is at least a viable option and gives you 15 months to work on getting a year extension when that visa runs out

I do not know about Savannakhet , but from what I understand, if your embassy does not do income affidavits anymore, you still need 400,000 baht in the bank for your first year. Then you can do the monthly income of 40k baht from overseas transfers.

All reports are that this has suddenly come to an end, and to be given the 12 month multi-entry version, you need to now show 400k in your Thai bank account.

Which will make it useful for offshore guys that have issues with the time constraints of going through the annual extension process in country, but not many others.
