Just a short ride from Cusco.

Ollantaytambo was used as a fortress by the Inca army to protect the Urubamba Valley and used as a resting point for pilgrims traveling to Machu Picchu

While in Cusco we stayed at the Belmond Palacio Nazarenas.: https://www.belmond.com/hotels/south...cio-nazarenas/

    Our suite.

One of the guys at the hotel was making a Royal Inca Tunic. 2 to 3 months to complete, working parttime.: https://www.worldhistory.org/article/791/inca-textiles/

We purchased one (at a gallery) and keep it in the states. It is beautiful.

Little more about Cusco before I finish with Peru.

Maybe next,………. whatshername reminded me today that 5 years ago we were leaving France and traveling to Spain.

If anyone does visit Machu Picchu this might be the resort to book.

While visiting Machu Picchu we stayed at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge: https://www.belmond.com/hotels/south...nctuary-lodge/

Only one master suite and the only room with a balcony (whatshername does enjoy a balcony) that you cannot book outside of 6 months to your arrival. Of course, this room always stays occupied and we knew it might be difficult to get. https://www.belmond.com/hotels/south...bedroom-suites

We had to make a call to get the resort to accept our booking for this room almost a year out.

    Cusco next

Next up. Resorts we stayed at while in Peru. The only suite in the resort circled below is difficult to get. Picture was taken while we were up on Huayna Picchu.

your next travel thread should be fun.

about my pictures. I still have a picture of a ticket for the Hiram Bingham Train, with the date we were there 6 years ago.: https://www.belmond.com/trains/south...hiram-bingham/

    I should add,……..

If you’re going to visit Peru with your Thai spouse a Visa will not be needed.

Embassy of Peru in Thailand - THAI citizens do not require a visa to enter Peru. They need only to hold a valid passport and a return ticket on arrival. They are allowed to stay up to 90 days in Peru.: http://www.peruthai.or.th/visas.php

You sure about that “bit of banter”?

The last travel thread you started here at TC was utterly painful to watch unfold and I am sure even you were aware of the fact.

We also climbed Huayna Picchu. The picture below is looking at Machu Picchu from Huayna Picchu. The scarf you see the women wearing is whatshername’s scarf.

    Damn Covid.

We were planning a trip to Perth this month (September 2021) to go whale watching but will have and save it for 2022 when we’ll do Perth (September), Hawaii (December) and Mexico (December/January 2023) whale watching trips. We’ll add diving in Mexico also.

The only trip scheduled outside of Thailand will be a month (spring 2022) in New York that I’ll post about.

Picture I took while in Mexico during our last visit…..
