Given we will be living in both countries, I am yet to decide.
I agree about the cremation - seems to right way to me.
If in Oz, maybe the missus will take the 'jar' back to her local Wat in Thailand - and maybe leave a 'jar' in Oz too for the kids/grandkids. Best of both worlds, after leaving this world
If I dont respond it is because: A) Libtard; B) Blocked Libtard; C) Playing Golf
I did not mind Laos or Cambodia, but was frequenting them long before the Chinese arrived en masse. However, I much preferred traveling in Vietnam back then.
^^ Do you love the smell of napalm in the morning?
^ I like Penang too, although in spite of it's charm & history Georgetown just seems to get tattier and seedier. Price of beer a bit offputting, but at least it's decent beer!
For me it's a much more rounded place than offered anywhere in Thailand. Multi cultural with British influences, mountains, beaches, architecture, awesome variety of food, modern infrastructure, amazing shopping, no sex industry sleazy shit in your face, English widely spoken, no hot season, three month tourist stamps, foreigners can buy houses. What's not to like.
Don't wanna let you down, but Georgetown has some pretty sleazy joints. Big druggie scene too.
Anyway, no place perfect. It's just a shame that they are pretty much letting historic Georgetown slowly disintegrate, as it is the best showcase of British colonial architecture I know. No doubt to the Chinese Malay bosses that run the place, that is considered just an historic anomaly and an embarrassment.
Not sure if you're aware of this, but good ole' Georgetown was the sleazepit of Asia long before those parvenu's in Thailand, Cambo etc got their feet in the door. Fascinating history, fascinating place.
