  • Boon Mee on Samui

Hit the road south a few days ago and when I can figure out how to post pics, will add a few.

Stops along the way were Chumpon (beaches so-so) Khao Lak (very nice beaches but low season is kicking in & a lot of places closed up) Ao Nang, Krabi - JHC! we're talking a Chinese invasion here! Made the mistake of taking a 'speedboat' out to Koh Phi Phi and it resembled a scene out of the Korean War with the ChiCom's pouring over the border only these Chinese were all smoking cigarettes lining the beach.

Word to the wise - the islands off Ao Nang are completely overrun and not worth your time.

Presently out on Koh Samui - first time for me and the missus after all these years in LOS and it's the best stop we've made on this sojourn so far. Staying out on Chaweng Noi Beach - minimal Chinese. Mostly Euro's who mind their own business. No Low Season on Samui though.

Pics when we get home and I can sort out the mechanics of posting.
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

Enjoy. I haven't been to Samui for a few years but I preferred Chang the last time I compared them. If I wanted something more urban than Chang I'd choose Penang with trips to Langkawi.

Penang is simply the best island in Asia IMO, offering a bit of everything.

Didn't realize how huge this island is. Drove off the ferry and got immediately lost. Took us a good 1/2 hour - 45 minutes to get to Chaweng Beach.

Back on the road tomorrow. If we come down here again, believe we'll fly out of Don Mueng - a lot faster!

Re Penang - love the beach there too. Stayed at the Shangra La last time and the place is beautiful.

I look forward to the pics booner- and have a good one. Samui is a place I'm reluctant to return to, having been in 1982 & 1984. One can imagine the changes.

For a similar, faux Robinson Crusoe experience these days, well the list is surely dwindling in Asia. Might be a good idea to check out Phu Quoc in Vietnam, before the Chinese developers and casinos inevitably arrive.

Apologies for the rather disjointed presentation(s) and quality of pictures. Not claiming to be a very good photographer!

Before we got to Samui, we stayed a couple of nights in Ao Nang, Krabi and lo & behold, it was Bike week there and some of the 'boys' from Phuket and other locations showed up at our hotel.

Just a fun-loving bunch from all over - Penang, Singapore, Chaing Mai. Very polite and no bother:

              Some rather nice bikes:

Curiosity got the better of me & I foolishly signed us up for a day trip to 4 offshore islands including Koh Phi Phi. First island was Bamboo - nothing there and naturally not mobbed:

              IMG20180429103142.jpg

Before we hit Krabi, we spent a couple nights on Khao Lak and some of those pics must be in the missus' phone. Will add as I find them.

Phi Phi is totally and unequivocally spoiled beyond belief:

Onward to Surat Thani and Koh Samui. Great roads in that part of the country. The island has two ferry terminals and they are really busy:

On Samui now and stayed out on Chewang Beach. Very nice it is. Once one is ensconced in one's hotel/resort away from the maddening crowd, the hustle and bustle of Samui is not at all noticeable.

              Heavy rains every afternoon:

              line_1525340015345.jpg

Back to Phi Phi for a couple of shots re the water - it's still unpolluted - for now:

That is shocking, and sums up just how retarded Thais are. They have beaches/natural resources like that and completely ruin it with their pigheaded greed and stupidity.

It is a beach on one the most tourist promoted parts of the country.

Plenty of beautiful unspoiled beaches to holiday at if one so wishes, all along the coast of Bang Saphan, for example.

^ Obviously a once off going by that 2 yr old news report.

Authorities said the trash two months ago could be debris flowing into the sea from the heavy floods in southern provinces. It took about 10 days to move it from the sea. The foundation has alerted the marine and Coastal Resources Department, which sent speed boats to locate the trash and it is being collected.
Fantastic work from the authorities to clean up this natural disaster.
