  • A hundred views of Malaysia (Penang, Cameron Highlands, Kuala Lumpur)

A selection of some of the hundreds of snaps I took during my recent months in Malaysia - for me a far preferable place to live than Thailand.

    One

A footbridge view crossing an expressway from the KL Botanical Gardens to KL Sentral area, above Muzium Negara MRT Station (the equivalent location in Bangkok would be above Chatuchak MRT)

Malaysians love lighting up their trees, like Thais. This road is right outside the Petronas Twin Towers.

KLCC Park has several light and sound shows every evening right under the twin towers and next to the awesome Suria Shopping Centre.

IMO the most dramatic high-rise in SE Asia.

A very different view now, exploring the Cameron Highlands Agro Technology Park. On the right is the area's main school.

Another view of the same area. Year round temperatures are around 16 celsius at night and 23 celcius by day - permanent perfect English summer weather.

That's a rather impressive tea cafe perched on the side of the Boh Tea Plantation. Great teas and cakes sold along with the views.

A lot of tea, and a great place to live for someone.

It's a real treat to be able to spend all day outdoors in SE Asia without sweating your head off. The Camerons are often cloudy and always cool.

I never tire of the landscape in that region.

This is the Cameron Highlands main private school, built back in colonial times as is fairly obvious.

Another view of the school. I met quite a few locals who studied there, then moved to KL to university, then moved home to run local businesses.

A view of Tanah Rata town centre from the school. Note the new shopping centre centre right with apartments/a hotel on top, which is currently only 10% let.

Budget apartments. Somewhat nicer than living on Sukhumvit 71.

Off to Penang, and my favourite residential area of the island, Tanjung Tokong, north of Gurney Drive.
