  • What's the riskiest thing you've ever done?

It's odd because I don't see riding a motorcycle off road at stupid speeds a risk. But the riskiest thing I've ever done is stunts on my California Star BMX as a lad from bunny hops to lining 14 of my mates up and jumping over them, smashing my 3-piece crank and my nads on the bar. The early stages of parkour by dangling myself out of a 3 story window at my parent's house crying for help, having the neighbour but 1 scream in fear. Then there was pulling an invisible rope across a busy road with my mate having the cars slam their anchors on! Cutting the sticks of rocket fireworks and setting a bunch of them off at the same time with me blood bruvvers and then scarpering before we got hit with manic rockets flying uncontrollably.

    Other than Nam and listening to Paul Hardcastle's n n n n n n n n 19, what's yours?

As a child celebrating Guy Fawkes, I was hell bent on creating havoc but I had already spent all my money on all things gun powder. Not able to buy anymore I bet with my father...if I won he would buy me 1 more packet of fire crackers, if I lost I would give up celebrating Guy Fawkes forever. Okay yeah I was addicted! A toss of the coin

    Thankfully I won

Joining a gang of pyromaniacs aged 15 called The Pyroso. The joining procedure was to walk through a pitch dark 2 mile railway tunnel where the gap between the wall and the 125mph trains that passed every 15 minutes was about two feet.

God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

At the ripe age of 37 I got my PPL. (private pilot license)
Right away I realized that the PPL was a license to either kill myself or learn more about aviation.
Being in love with flying, I abruptly changed the direction of my life to become a professional pilot, and go about it the long and hard way by becoming a flight instructor and working up.
Along the way I became a glider instructor and acquired my own Cessna to lease to the flight school where I started which I later used to start my independent flight school specializing in conventional gear aircraft.
After a good bit of flight experience (mountain flying, gliders/glider towing, brief twin engine stints in Louisiana and the Bahamas) and dual given instruction I wasn't making enough money.
With my experience I had two choices; Alaska fly air taxi FAR part 135 or New Zealand glider work (towing/instruction)

My mentor buddy a UAL FO on B-777 had started his career in Alaska so I knew something about Alaska.
It sounded tough, but I chose to AK, plus I always wanted to go there after reading Jack London!

And off to Alaska, and got my first real job flying that paid decent money.
In a part of Alaska known for very difficult dangerous weather; Bethel, AK (home of SVFR flight rules)
Managed to survive 6 winters of flying terror. It was kinda fun.
Actually the worst times were spring and fall storms and the associated icing conditions and shit visibility.

Cooking your dog and inviting the village over for a BBQ doesn't qualify?

That must of been interesting, motor-vehicles and LSD are not things that go well together, IME.

Way back when, accidentally took some LSD laced punch at a party. Had to navigate home driving my trusty old 1967 VW Fastback.
                        I imagined I was driving a Porsche!

I don't know the "risk aspect" but I've moved to 3 new cities (one was a country, 2 were cities in the US) without a job and everything turned out good.

Oh yeah... did that a ton of times on a 1000cc Suzuki.
I can still remember, there's a tunnel that goes under neath the Sydney Harbour Bridge, that does a 270 degree bend to come up onto the bridge. It seemed to go forever, with the sound of the Yoshimura pipes amplified by the walls of the tunnel.

Around 5 years before the GFC I had every dollar I had tied up in finance companies. These companies would loan where the the banks wouldn't due to increased risk. The interest rates offered by the finance companies were higher than the banks

I got out around 1 year before the GFC. I couldn't justify the risk

Every single 1 of those those finance companies went bust after the GFC. It was the wild west
