The whole general attitude towards ganga here in LOS is a bit scary today compared to days of yore. The farang is considered ripe pickings now but back some years ago, the vibe here was like it is today on the Left Coast and other places in the States.
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

Leave it to California to kill the goose that could have laid the golden egg.

"Deep in Gov. Gavin Newsom's new budget is a figure that says a lot about California's shaky legal marijuana market: The state is expecting a lot less cash from cannabis taxes.

The Democrat's proposed spending plan, released Thursday, projects the state will bank $355 million in marijuana excise taxes by the end of June. That's roughly half of what was once expected after broad legal sales kicked off last year.

Industry experts say the diminished tax income reflects a somber reality: Most consumers are continuing to purchase pot in the illegal marketplace, where they avoid taxes that can near 50 percent in some communities."

Cambodia ditch-weed is what it is. Actually worse than the generic seedy Colombian weed we used to see.

Yepper leave it to greedy leftist fokwit politicians to kill the goose which lays the golden egg.
The new cannabis laws are horribly over-burdened by regulations.

Here in LOS the political greed will likely be off the chart, to point where nothing happens.
It will be nothing short of miraculous to get a growing permit or open a medical cannabis dispensary.
Meanwhile regular people have to continue to suffer government arrogance.

I could mail some good ganja over to you from Canada. Now it is legal and they sell it online.. about to open their first government stores in Ottawa soon enough. Can't wait to try the THC oil.

                Really?

We were paying 20 baht for a brick. That would be a dollar. I think there were 10 sticks about 7 inches long and about 1/2 or 9/16 inch thick.

That was in 1972-73 up in the Udon Thanii area.

Bangkok sure was a cool place back in 1978. The Thai-sticks were easy to get and quite strong. You could buy nearly pure #4 heroin really cheap. There were still opium dens in the mountains up north.
The problem was the DEA/CIA were deeply involved and making the scene incredibly dangerous.

Now 40 years later thanks to the US war on drugs, Thailand has a devastating meth/yaba problem, which makes the previous issues with cannabis/opium/heroin seem quite mild and mellow in comparison.
Thank you, Richard Nixon for the marvelous global war on drugs. Without which we would have never been introduced to the massive meth/fentanyl problems today.

^Ah.. lol. Meth/yaba is pretty shit.. and here it seems all the kids are taking Fentanyl which is just brutal and deadly.

I remember smoking Thai stick ten years ago on the beaches of Phuket with a few local Thai guys. Nothing like good Thai weed.. blew my mind anyway. My family didn't believe that I didn't bring any back. lol. Then I went to Korea and China where their laws were pretty strict on drugs. Now back in Canada, I can't believe it is legal as of recent. I don't smoke it anymore, but want to try the oil at some point.

                        :kwai:

once the store opens, i'll see if I can take pics inside and post them on here.. I know they'll have a huge variety, but again it is government controlled, which a lot of private stores/sellers aren't happy about..especially in BC.

^ as long as big business owned government has control, the people wont be getting any native medicines any time soon.
Big pharma and big alcohol companies are not going to give up control easily.

Off topic a little, but ...

In Vietnam there were "head shops" along the highways. Sold all kinds of marijuana paraphanalia. While driving to or from some place, I would stop and go in the places just to see the blacklight posters
The store owners would paint the inside walls with black paint and posters nearly covered the walls. The only lights were black lights. To use a term from back then, they were "far out man"! Or todays term, "awesome"!

I was inspired to paint my room where I lived in black paint. I then bought a black light and using ultraviolet paint, created a universe of stars and milky way like solar system across the ceiling of the room and partially down one wall. Then smoke some Bong Song Bombers after getting off work at our work site, driving back to the barracks, lay down on my bed and marvel at the stars on my ceiling. That is, if I didn't smoke after work then lay down on the ground at the site and stare at the stars in the sky. That was not that great becuase of the perimeter lights of the Air Force Base, which perimter was 100 yards away from the work site..

I used to live in rural Lousiana and lay on the ground, when it was warm enough, for hours looking at the sky. It was, awesome, way out away from city lights, you could see ... so ... many ... stars! It was almost like being high!

Next time I am in Thailand I want to go out someplace rural, away from the cities, ad look at the stars. or my next trip out west here in the U.S. of A. No body would deny an old man that enjoyment, would they?

I used to chase radios. Now I don't.

Were they still selling fake Falling Rain packs of cigarettes, that were in reality, marijuana cigarettes.

They were almost perfect reproductions of a real pack of Falling Rain cigarettes, just a little longer or shorter, I don't remember which.

On a trip to Bangkok, I did not understand why a man would approach me and try to sell me a pack of Falling Rain for a dollar, which I think was about 3 or 4 times what it would cost to buy a pack. It was only after he told me something like, not real cigarette, that it occured to me what he may be selling. Anyway, I took a chance and bought a pack. Sure enough, they were "not real cigarette".

Meth pills were a problem in Thailand back in the early 1970's too. Many, if not most, of the samlow drivers used them. GI's were taking them too.

Up in the Udon area, there were three kinds of pills. The weakest was called a Horse, the next strongest was called a Mule, and the strongest was called the Elephant.

The horse had a raised image of a horse embossed on it, standing on all four hooves or may have had one hoof off the ground. The mule was embossed with the image of a horse reared up on its hind legs, and was twice as strong as the Horse. The Elephant had, an Elephant what else, embossed on it and was four times as strong ass the Horse pill.

The Army had started piss tests for drugs in 1971 in Vietnam but for some reason had not reached Thailand by late 1972 and early 1973 for some reason, at least with the unit I was with. So meth from Laos and heroin from the Golden Triangle that was smoked in cigarettes, was in use by Americans. But not as ramphant as marijuana use was by the Americans. Thai people were also smoking Thai weed back then too.
