Where can I get russet potatoes (AKA Idaho potatoes) in Thailand? Is it even possible? I've looked online but I don't see much.

Tesco and local markets have russet taters, they aren't huge like the Idahoes, but still tasty and in fact used in much Thai cuisine.
Also popular are the purple Peruvian taters, also yummy if you are a tater man.

After so long here I eventually got bored with a full on Thai menu. Even the wife gets bored with it.

I mentioned this wise saying to the wife. She agrees except where that variety means getting a gik. If I try that she'll cash in my chips.

I eat Thai food all the time and many varieties but I do like to cook and sometimes homemade fries and some cheese sauce I can quickly make is a nice treat. I can use the potatoes here I was just wondering if anyone came across a good potato for frying. Thai people do use potatoes in some dishes but the particular potato here is better for boiling.

I seem to recall seeing bags of pre-cut taters for fries at Macro.
Macro in Hua Hin should have a wide range farang food-stuff, including veggies.
I too have gone native, my favorite local snacks are fried chicken skins and fried chicken gizzards.
But I see the white russet taters in my little village markets down south near Ranong. The Thai use them a lot too.

Our diet is 75% Thai but will opt of the occasional nice rib eye from NZ. Local beef makes for the ubiquitous shaky-table steak.
Come Thanksgiving/Christmas time I do long for the traditional turkey meal with all the trimmings. Although, it's too much of a pain in the ass to motor all the way down to the "Smoke" (remember when they used to call London "The Smoke") - and hit a Villa Market for the vittles necessary to do a proper job of a Holiday Meal.God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

We have a Lotus Extra in the area that carries a LOT of goods. Reminds me of a Super Wal Mart back in the States. But with the Makro's, Thai Watsadu's and Home Pro's that abound here, there's very little to be missed not living in the Land of the Big Cheeseburger.God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.
