No one has mentioned the Phils. From what I am told the immigration system is a lot more friendly than LOS. Am about to go on a scouting trip and test the waters. I'm sure there must be a few with recent experience on TC. Maybe they could enlighten us with their wisdom.

I said I'm going down south to do drug runs in my fishing boat between Philippines & Malaysia. Satisfied?
None of her business actually. Shoulda said I'm going to Angeles to pound massive amounts of pussy
All she had to do is ask for my return ticket to see I would be leaving inside 30 days

Seems like common sense
30-day Visa Exemption Scheme
Foreigners who enter Thailand under this Tourist Visa Exemption Scheme may only do so for 30 days at one time with a maximum of 3 times in a 6-month period by flight and 2 times a year for overland crossing.

In days past, one could use the repeated tourists visa [2 extensions] cycles forever.
Many foreign residents did just this with no great cost.
Every three months - step out of the country for 24 hrs and renew your new 3-month/extension cycle....seemingly endless without restrictions.
Times have changed, of course. As have policies.

Yes I imagine the 3 flights in every 6 months policy changed when the 30 day extension option was added to 30 day visa exemptions, which would allow someone to stay there permanently if flying out then straight back in again every 60 days. The lack of clear current policy seems to be catching a lot of people out. Why oh why don't the Thais spell out what is allowed in advance so people don't turn up at immigration and have to be sent away.

"The permit of the entry and the duration of the stay will be upon the discretion of the Immigration Officer at the Immigration check point"
So who knows? They haven't given me a definite answer 1 way or the other
