Bridges well and truly burnt How about You

Burning bridges to become an ethnic minority in a developing country living year to year on the whim of visas and permits doesn't make sense. Sure, if you have reasons to detest your native country and need permanent sanctuary somewhere very different, I can see why some do it, but it's pretty abnormal and to me seems like a form of less messy suicide, as something has gone very wrong if one can't stand the thought of living in one's native country.
Once retired and after a good life in the west, things are different, and Thailand is a reasonable place to kick back and enjoy retirement, but as a place to spend decades working and raising a family, you'd have to be nuts.

I haven't burned any bridges, except for when I left Kuwait on the fly after I didn't get paid properly and was working as an illegal alien.
Been all over the world, all over the world.

That realization has plagued me over many years now add to that situation the ever falling currency exchange rate that affects my UK Government pension and the rising cost of paying for private health insurance and the increasing costs here in Thailand its no wonder that I now some times feel I made a big mistake. Any one else gone and burnt their bridges and are now like me doomed to end their days in the land of smiles

I really applaud you for your honesty Vs the other route of denying the facts which many others seem to constantly adopt while wearing their rose tinted glasses. Thailand has been for a long time in a sad state of continuing rampant deterioration and things are only going to go down hill in the future .
