        Thailand has certainly changed a lot in the last 20 years or so.
        Whether for the worse or better is a value judgement based on criteria which haven't been disclosed in the comment in question.

        I can think of a few issues which have made it less attractive as a retirement destination, top of the list the ever tightening visa requirements & rising cost of living.

        No bridges burnt, got one foot here, the other in Germany and it's going to stay like that for the foreseeable future.
