  • Fructose

There are still clueless cocks out there that think eating copious amounts of fruit is fine. Fructose goes straight to the liver, and eat more than a small portion and it causes fatty liver just like alcohol does.

To eat enough fruit to sustain harm from fructose would almost be physiologically impossible.

Wrong Timmy, fruit will not cause liver damage like alcohol.
Maybe you should stick to things you know about.

You have two narratives confused here. The current obesity crisis in America is due to fructose derived from maize being added to just about everything. So no argument that large doses of fructose are harmful.

However any harm caused by the small amounts of fructose ingested by eating fruit is outweighed by the benefits of the vitamins and minerals from the fruit.

Basically fruit is good, fructose in junk food very bad.

What Is High Fructose Corn Syrup Doing In My Salmon Burger?

Sheesh! You would think that you could avoid corn syrup when you are eating salmon. I purchased the above box of salmon burgers ($6.50) and it featured "Wild Alaska Sustainable Seafood" - which made me happy.

High fructose corn syrup is worse for you than refined white sugar.

It's you that's confused. Sticking to vegetables and small portions of berries, which provide all the necessary vitamins & minerals, and avoiding all other fruits is the healthiest option.

My cousin died from fatty liver complications earlier this year. 52 years old, tee total for a decade but ate two glasses of orange juice, 3 apples and 2 bananas per day which he was convinced was healthy. I strongly suspect he'd still be here had he avoided it.

It's not natural to consume fruit year round. It's a seasonal food which for example birds use to fatten up before migrating. It goes straight to the liver and doesn't spike insulin which means it isn't absorbed well by the body's cells, tending to stick around the liver and turn to white fat and cholesterol.

I strongly suspect that you are totally unqualified to make that medical diagnosis.Of course you could prove me wrong by posting a copy of your PHD.

And you're qualified to repeat the below that you read on some blog? Hypocrite.

He was consuming about 70 grammes of fruit-based fructose per day, over 2 kilos per month, which is easily achievable. The average american consumes one kilo of high fructose corn syrup per month and the average american is overweight, which makes a nonsense of the below.

Pasturized orange juice does affect the body in a similar way as sugar. Not the best idea for diabebic folks. Highly unlikely to cause liver failure unless there was more serious damage than previously percieved.
Also could be doctor mistake, the #3 cause of death in the USA is doctor mistakes.

^That is a heck of a lot of juice and fruit that Smeg's cousin was consuming , seems almost unreal. I could never eat that much fruit in a day.
I agree with Lamphun on this one. . fruit is actually healthy as it contains minerals, vitamins and water and unless you gorge on it (which seems unlikely), you shouldn't kill yourself or develop fatty liver. Most juices on the market are pure sugar, so I don't touch the stuff.

Fruit actually contains fiber which slows the absorbtion and there are some fruits that are much higher in sugar than others. Berries are good which is mostly what I eat.

Staying away from high sugar fruits is probably a good idea if you are watching your sugar intake.

I thought you swore by "juice fasts".

Why is it unreal? A blended apple and banana on his breakfast cereal. Two handsized cartons of orange juice taken to work for him for his morning and afternoon break. An apple after his sandwich for lunch and an apple and banana for dessert after dinner. He wanted to eat 10 fruit and veg per day and was doing 7 fruit and 3 veg. I think he stupidly classed peas as a veg which are actually high fructose legumes.

^My juice fasts consist of maybe 10% juice and the rest veggies. So, i don't gorge on fruit. I have one apple perhaps in my fruit juice to make it drinkable.

If your cousin has fatty liver, I don't get why the heck he is eating so many fruits...
I can't see developing fatty liver just on fruits over time. Is he obese? If he is then that would explain it, although not all obese people have fatty liver either. Sugar is a nightmare to stay away from as it is super addictive just like cocaine. You have to be super careful as there is sugar in many things and contains so many different names.

The bosses wife had a kidney transplant a couple years ago resulting in her now being diabetic. However due to all the goodies in fruit she is allowed to eat fruit daily

Another diabetic I know with failing kidneys (heart too weak to have a kidney transplant) is on dialysis & she also eats fruit daily. Got to watch bananas though because of the potassium build-up

Fasting is super important for curing most disease affecting humans. (most animal's natural instinct is to fast when sick)

The most effective type of fast is the John W. Armstrong "Water of Life" regimen.

Read the book, free online; "The Water of Life".

Our own body is the most powerful natural healer. We just have to learn how to get out of our own way..

The western medical profession is about profits and control, not health and facilitating healing.

The #3 cause of death in the USA is doctor error.
A medical license is a license to kill..

The ancient traditions like Shivambu/Water of Life, are about letting the most power healer, our own body, do the work..
