      What of traditional tattoos?

Not of the fashionable and trendy Occidental-based variety.

That is bullshit if I ever heard. I know tons of people from all socio economic classes with tattoos.
Also many more people percentage wise in the west have tattoos then someone said earlier in the thread. It is or at least was a trend and even young teens are getting tattoos. Frankly, I think it has gone overboard and too many look bad. Also as you get older your skin wrinkles and the tattoos may look bad. I have a few very small ones, to commemorate a few of my favorite places I've been, but they aren't highly visible and look good I've been told.

Why is permanently animating your skin your chosen way to remember a place? Each to their own, but it's always interesting to know why.

A good friend of mine has a small ankle tattoo. I only noticed it recently but she said she's had it for many years. I see that as far less weird than some huge emblem on an arm or neck.

I don't know why, but it is what it is. When I lived and worked in North Carolina I drove to Asheville to the Blue Ridge mountains and decided to get a tattoo in this funky little town. It was my first and my best friend was there to hold my hand. lol.

I also got a tatoo one time in Phuket.. I was a bit drunk and decided to go for the design I had picked out. I don't regret either, but don't want to get anymore either. I love my tattoos and they also aren't highly visible with clothes on of course.

^I'm afraid I didn't tell the whole story about that first tattoo. What makes it even more memorable is the fact that I got a job as a counsellor in an outdoor rehabilitation camp for troubled teens in North Carolina. I picked up a visa at the US border. The visa was called TN which means a Trade Nafta visa which was crazily easy enough to get. I just needed papers from my new job, passport, $100 bucks, and voila! I had a 1 year visa stamped in my passport.

I drove down the I85 by myself in my old 86' Pontiac (this was about 20 years ago). As I'm driving, my muffler started to make loud scary noises. I realized then while shitting my pants that I was in some danger of the car dying or sputtering off the road. I pulled off the freeway into this buttfvck nowhere little quaint, Amish looking town to find a garage. I drove and drove and there was nothing around except cows and fields. Out of the middle of nowhere pops this little run down garage. I pull in figuring it was closed as it was a Sunday, but drove in anyway hoping there would be a savior inside.

The fugly looking guy in the garage looked at me like I was from outer space and said he would look at it. He hoists the car up high in the air and tells me in the most nonchalent way, that the the pipe that holds the cavaleti converter had fallen off and that he'd have to order that part and it could be another day. Well, I told him in an urgent manner that I really couldn't wait another day or two as I had to be at a job in North Carollina. After about 100 calls and a look of relief on his face, he tells me that he can fix it, but it could take three to four hours. I figured that I'd have to just sit there and wait it out. I wasn't happy , but I had no choice but to wait - and it was a long long wait sitting there in a cornfield with nothing around.

So there I was $100 bucks poorer, but with a working car, back on the I85 heading towards North Carolina. After about 15 hours I arrived at my destination and then learn that my job was a scary one. I had to live out in canvas tents with 12 teenaged delinquents who were there for discipline and as a last resort before jail time. I had to sleep in the same tent with the girls on hard cots that often had mouse poop on them. I was almost killed a few times by one girl who just wouldn't stop calling me a bitch and tried attacking me a few times.. luckily I was trained in how to restrain the girls if need be. I lived a lot at the camp, but got to go off a few days a week where I stayed in the basement of a southern lady's home who was as sweet as pie.

After the contract ended, my friend from Canada came down to meet me and we took a drive out to the Blue Ridge mountains stopping in Asheville, then onwards through the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains where we camped out in a tent minus the mouse poop.

Fun, fun times... lol. I got the tattoo to remember how brave and adventurous (a little crazy too) I was to take the job and that I lived to see it through.

^Ya the tattoo is of a butterfly with open wings.. one of those blue rare breeds. It was my first adventure, a few years later went to England to teach and then to Korea.

I think that chicks with the "Tramp Stamp" above the crack of their ass are hot! (sarc)
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.
