For your average over 50 retiree already set in their ways and not engaging in any sort of local employment, probably minimal. But for your average younger adult who took a holiday to Thailand and decided to find decades of work there to avoid going home, my jury is still out on whether this causes them to become nuts or they were already nuts. Needless to say I've never met a westerner that's spent decades of working age life in Thailand that I'd consider sane or in any way normal.

More common - work abroad and commute periodically.
Even if one has familial and land security in Thailand, they cannot sustain themselves here.
Many many examples are displayed throughout these forums.

You mean the usual bunch who visited as sex tourists, fell in love and addicted to the lifestyle, decided to up and leave their own countries to do their best in Thailand.
A few success stories, but many failures who can't reconnect back home, haven't made native friends, make the odd visit and realise how broke they are and how their ex mates are doing well, with flash cars and houses.
These types engage in oneupmanship on internet forums and become angry individuals
