Mental health effects of spending decades in Thailand
Probably about 20. Implemented when bored of or locked out of the previous one. Never posted with simultaneously on a forum, in opposing styles, because I'm not schizophrenic like you.
NB I suggest not including all of those who your paranoid brethren accused of being me in your count, otherwise your 200 will be about right.
The main issue IMO is, farangs who spend year after year in Thailand and only ever leave for the occasional week become acclimated to it. It's only when you spend months away from the place enjoying a life elsewhere that you realise what a dump it is and see the way it keeps susceptible types rooted there.

I suspect there are those who spend months away from Thailand in utter misery, longing for the tropical weather, cheap lifestyle and living in a fog of escapism. "Elsewhere", after all, may be a dingy bedsit or a deteriorating trailer park where friends and family may be less than welcoming after the first 10 minutes or so. Your post, I believe, says much more about your unhappiness here than that of other posters.

Sorry to read that Jeff. Although I understand that there are trailer parks and there are trailer parks. Some and this might be the case for you, are almost luxurious.
I visited TC a few times as a guest but had to stop. It is a sickening place. - Aging One

You've nailed it. Not with an accurate description of people who have lives away from Thailand but about the grandiose delusions that keep the susceptible types there. They become convinced that it's utopia because it's better than the life they aborted in the west, and they automatically assume that everyone that spends time there feels the same way.
It's an ego thing, readily witnessed at beerbar stools throughout Thailand.
England is uncomfortably cold and dark as of this week but I'm actually dreading it when I arrive in Singapore later this month. It's too hot to do much outside from about 10am to 6pm, which wastes the bulk of the day. Fine for those who want to laze around drinking beer every day as is so common in Thailand.
Subtropical places like Madeira and Okinawa have far better climates IME - places where you don't need fans and aircon for most of the year. Ditto that for tropical highlands cities like Dalat and Baguio and the towns of the Cameron Highlands which have year-round British summer weather.

Now there's a recommendation: British summer weather!
