  • Maybe I have been here long enough, Mae Rim

I've been here a week coaching my daughter at tennis. Typically we're up around 7, out for breakfast and do some travelling and return back for 2-3 hours off tennis around 3_4pm. But the driving here is on another level compared to BKK. Actually civilized! I haven't seen anyone speed, cut people up but infact the complete opposite. Follow limits, use turn signals and politely let people out. WTF is going on. I want to move here. Busy areas during peak time take 20 mins from the hotel. Loop

CM is great for driving and great for motorbike riding. There are some nice loops, if in Mae Rim you're on the Samoeng Loop.

I was surprised. Driving in the rain at what I presume was rush hour took no more than 20mins to get to the Maya shopping area. Called to Rist8to coffee I think it was called. Really surprised!

At the airport picking my wife up and all stress free driving. I left BKK at 4:30am on Sunday to get here. Decent drive. Ride my AT next time.

I visited TC a few times as a guest but had to stop. It is a sickening place. - Aging One

Yeah, coming from BKK driving in CM is a dream. The super highway and it's under passes are fantastic. the only bad thing is the length of the red lights.

The ride from BKK-CM is nice and easy, sometimes have done it in 6 hours on a Ninja 650. Outside lane on nearly empty roads cruising at around 140kph and just stopping for gas.

Left at 4:30am to avoid any traffic. Followed the limit all the way up and was a decent drive. About 10 KM from my destination I was doing 120kph on a 90Kph road for about 1km. There were camera signs but I assumed fake but 3km down the rozzers were slowing people down and I was fined 500bht for doing 124kph. During my time there, I saw 2-3 twat drivers. I may even consider buying somewhere just for breaks on the bike and a getaway and keep it stored there. I'm in that grey area at the moment where BKK, although I now live on the outskirts is pissing me off. I'm not riding much at the moment. Have a house in Ban Kea near the center whch we are planning to sell so may look for a cheap out-of-the way pad up there.

You should have let me know that you were coming Jesu. We could meet up for a beverage or two, although it would take me longer to get there, sold the Versys 1000, just on the Wave now.

I am stuck over what to do about my bike. Hardly ride these days as I worry about my daughter when I do. The small group I rode with have changed bikes so our riding style has changed anD others have moved further away. I am not into the big group rides and tend to prefer my own company these days when riding. Only 11,000k on the bike and been out twice over the last year on a long run. Keep saying I am going to sell then find a reason not to but despite my fantasy idea of buying a place in Chiang Mai, my bike will be up for sale October. A bit pissed off as I bough brand new Klim gear in Australia in July. Worn once on a trip to Max value!
