    Homophobe Maggie Demands Respect

A proponent of Christian hate seeks tennis love:

Tennis-Court challenges Australia to honour her like Laver

MELBOURNE, Nov 7 (Reuters) - Australian tennis great Margaret Court said she will not return to Melbourne Park until formally invited by Tennis Australia and demanded the sport's national governing body properly recognise her calendar Grand Slam feat.
Court, who holds the all-time record of 24 Grand Slam singles titles, has not attended the Australian Open since 2017 when her religion-based opposition to same-sex marriage made her a lightning rod for criticism in the leadup to a national plebiscite on the issue.
However, in the leadup to the 50th anniversary of her 1970 calendar Grand Slam, Court said she wanted her achievement to be given the same respect afforded compatriot Rod Laver, who was feted earlier this year at Melbourne Park for his 1969 Grand Slam.

ďI think Tennis Australia should sit and talk with me," Court, whose name adorns the second show court at Melbourne Park, told Fairfax Media on Thursday.
"They have never phoned me. Nobody has spoken to me directly about it. I think they would rather not confront it.

"They brought Rod in from America. If they think Iím just going to turn up, I donít think that is right.
"I think I should be invited. I would hope they would pay my way to come like they paid for his, and honour me. If they are not going to do that, I donít really want to come."

In women's tennis, only Court, Maureen Connolly (1953) and Steffi Graf (1988) have managed the calendar Grand Slam, widely considered the game's toughest achievement.
Rod Laver, who completed the calendar Slam twice in 1962 and 1969, is the only man after Don Budge (1938) to have managed it.

Australia legalised same-sex marriage in December 2017 after 61.6% of respondents to a voluntary plebiscite voted for it.

Court, a Christian pastor at a Perth-based church she set up decades ago, has long been vocal about her opposition to it, a stance that has alienated openly gay players, past and present.
Last year, her great rival Billie Jean King added her voice to calls for a name change for the Margaret Court Arena show court, saying she would boycott the venue if still a player.
A Tennis Australia spokeswoman said it was "in the process of working through" how Court's milestone would be recognised.

"As previously stated, Tennis Australia recognises the tennis achievements of Margaret Court, although her views do not align with our values of equality, diversity and inclusion," the governing body said.

Curious that brutal bigots are often also sensitive snowflakes.

Good on her for taking a stand in what she believes in, all the while the tolerant thoughtful progressive dickheads, as seen in this thread, are throwing abuse at her

The usual far left diatribe that cannot tolerate a differing opinion. Opposing Gay marriage does not in any way make someone a homophobe. Not believing in using the term marriage for homosexual men and Lesbian women does not mean that someone is against a union between same sex couples, only that the word "marriage" is a term that in their opinion, exclusively applies to a heterosexual union between two people.
    Just to remind everyone.
Homophobe: a fear or hatred of homosexuals.
Opposition to same sex couples calling a union "marriage" is nothing to do with being a homophobe but as usual the far left in their efforts to get everyone to conform to "newspeak" and "thoughtcrime" falsely label people who according to their principles or faith do not believe that same sex unions should be called marriage.

A woman Christian pastor! I very much doubt that having a woman in this position is in line with biblical teachings. If she were to cease and desist then Iím sure the tennis club would reconsider and pay her bus fare.
I visited TC a few times as a guest but had to stop. It is a sickening place. - Aging One

Hugh, I cant believe the gays get so much airtime in the press, I'm sick and tired of them continually pushing their agenda. Of course its the gay & gay-friendly members of the press who have a vested interest in pushing their lifestyle as 'normal' onto anyone who will listen while on the other hand pressing the "I'm offended, how dare you!" shame button onto anyone who doesn't agree with it

Look at the way the first 2 posters try to shame you into agreeing with their toxic HIV tinged nonsense
