  • Christms In Khao Yai National Park

Ms B and I decided to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day in and around Khao Yai National Park.

We stayed at the Balios Resort Khao Yai. This hotel used to be known as Juldis Khao Yai Resort. I has been sold, completely renovated and renamed. It is now very nice.

On the way we stopped at the Caroline Cheese factory in Pak Chong where you can buy cheese and other dairy products. We had a great lunch at The Great Hornbill restaurant at PB Valley Khao Yai Winery. We arrived at Balios in style and enjoyed the Christmas decorations at nearby Palio shopping center and the hotel entrance.

Always lots to see in Khao Yai. The photos include a juvenile Barking Deer, a juvenile Gibbon, random scenes and the Heaw Suwat waterfall.

On the way home had lunch along side Lam Takhong reservoir which is disturbingly empty. Also stopped at Wat Luang Phor Toh.

How did you get the pictures to show up full size rather than as thumbnails?

Gift from my sister. She scours thrift shops in the US for vintage gems like that. She cleaned it up, added the travel stickers and security belt and gave it to me for my birthday, full of classic Hawaiian shirts.

There is a small blue button in the upper left when you are creating a post with two A's on it - kind of like A/A, but the first A is black and smaller. You click that either before or after you upload pics and then the photos show in your editing box. Then you left click on the photo and a box opens up with options, thumb, small, medium ,large, full size, center, left, right or none. I am looking into changing it to the double A is active all the time so the photos will show when uploaded and can jsut be clicked.

Google Doodle Explores Thailand's First National Park

It was 55 years ago Monday when Thailand established its first natural protected area, Khao Yai National Park. To mark the birth of this tropical treasure, Google has created an interactive Doodle that lets users explore the Southeast Asian kingdom's natural beauty.

Google's animated slideshow celebrates the park's diverse wildlife and lush landscapes; from a mother and baby elephant, the national animal of Thailand, to the cascading natural waterfalls so sought by travelers to the country.

Situated about three hours from the capital Bangkok in the central-eastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, Khao Yai was established as a protected area on Sept. 18, 1962 with help from the renowned Thai conservationist Boonsong Lekakul, according to Google.

Spanning 837 square miles, the park is host to more than 70 types of mammals and hundreds of species of birds. Khao Yai receives more than a million visitors each year, according to Google, who come from all over the globe to catch a glimpse of macaque monkeys, enjoy a hike, or camp out beneath the stars.

Was just there for three days. Rode my bike a 'significant' way into the Park and didn't see one swinging dick elephant the whole time. Lots of big monkeys hanging out along the road begging for food. Lots of elephant dung on the pavement but no Chang's. The Park Rangers told me they were back in the forest so I left a pile of peanuts for them anyhow.

Beautiful Park it is and even with the signs at the entrance that say Farang don't get a discount, if you show your Pink Card or DL, the fee is 40 baht. Same as Thai.
God, the panic within the Dems, MSM, and left must be horrifying...realizing that Joe is really the best they've got.

Was there in March. Saw my first wild one. It was trotting down the road and then crossed to our side. it was then that a pulled off my first reverse handbrake turn since I was a young fella. After the mrs and BIL stopped screaming I glanced in the mirror to see it trot back into the bush.7516845056_IMG_0098.jpg

                            ^ Nice.

Have only gone on motorbiking rides though there, some great biking roads.

First time thought that the big clumps of 'mud' in the middle of the road were dropped off some construction truck or something.

Before realizing they were all elephant shit.

I was thinking the same. Or any front wheel drive 5 speed. I had fun in the 5 speed diesel pickup until I was told to stop scaring people. Them speed bumps could ruin your day.
